“Pleasant night out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

Okay-- this was definitely fun and interesting but I feel that the other reviews on here are a bit misleading and "hyped" up. If you are expecting a fun night out and something to do, then this will be just fine. But if you are expecting amazing, nonstop magic, you will be disappointed. The magic was good and impressive but definitely not on a very high level. If you are expecting something like David Copperfield, you'll be sorely disappointed. Also, there wasn't as much magic as I had hoped. There was a lot of talking and acting that went along with the magic, but in my opinion it would be good to put in more magic tricks. However, their goal was "parlor magic" so maybe that's what parlor magic is like...?

There is a lot of audience participation which is great. Susan and Roland themselves were entertaining, warm, and funny, and they seemed like genuinely nice people. The setting/ stage is pretty cool and inviting, and it's a small crowd so it's very intimate. Also you can do a 2 for 1 dinner with the tickets, which I HIGHLY recommend. The restaurant food was very good! Overall it was a pleasant experience but I did feel a bit let down after reading all the other reviews on here. However, with dinner included, it was money well spent and decent entertainment.

Just remember to go in with no or low expectations and you'll probably have a good time. Oh- and if you are French you might get offended at one of their skits- keep an open mind :-)

“Unique and exciting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

We went to Carnival of Illusion with a group for a birthday celebration. It was such an interesting and magical presentation. We laughed, we oohed, we ahhhed. We enjoyed the wonderful stage presence of both Roland and Susan, the performers. The magic tricks were well-done and the audience participation, of which there was much, made the experience more personal and enjoyable. I highly recommend this for an unusual way to spend an evening in Tucson!

“Just left the show...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

Just got out of the show in Tucson. It was a fabulous homage to classical close-up magic, and my fiancee and I had a fantastic time! These are Magicians, capital M, and their knowledge and love of their craft shines brightly. Roland and Susan interact and talk with the audience, and the close-up nature makes it that much cooler. We actually won our tickets, but we'd gladly have paid for them, too (and we will come next season!).

That being said, it's not for everyone. I'm sure there are people out there who hate fun, or who do not like being entertained; this show is not for them.

“Enjoyable step back into the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

I found this on TripAdvisor and based on reviews, decided to buy our tickets. If you enjoy the glitzy Las Vegas shows (which I've never been to), this is NOT it. It's a personal, up close entertaining show where you can banter with Roland and Susan.
Although words like "thrilling" and "outstanding" may be a slight exaggeration, it is a nice family or date night activity.
We were still talking about Roland's incredible memory and his and Susan's magic tricks during dinner.
The two for one dinner at the Cactus Rose Restaurant includes the salad bar. We had rib eye and it was nicely prepared.

“Intimate, warm and generous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

The spirit of these two performers really shines through, they are consummate masters of their trade. That in itself is rare, but their kindness, humanity and integrity with what they do makes their show truly one of a kind. Very worthwhile for all ages.
