“Interesting Stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

This is one of those places that has a lot of potential. There's not a lot to see above ground here. A bit of one structure still stands and a few low walls. However, the museum with artifacts and photos of life at Fort Lowell in the 19th century is quite interesting. The people are also very helpful and friendly. Certainly worth a stop to get an idea of what life was like for soldiers on the frontier during the waning days of the Indian Wars.

“A fascinating look back in history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

This small but very well done museum is well worth the visit. Most of the fort is in ruins, but looking at the site next to a modern playground and bisected by a busy street makes you stop and envision what life must have been like in the 1870's. A wonderful display of photos tells you not only about some of the people who served there (including Walter Reed) but also gives you details on what happened to them after the fort closed which I found unique and interesting. You can still walk down Cottonwood Lane which flanked the officers row. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
