We always take our company on this ride. As you ascend, there is a curve.....every time there is a WOW! And then shortly thereafter there is a pullover to take pictures. Of course there are always bikers and hikers. What a trip. A must do.

“Motorcycle Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

Decent paved roads wind their way through this park bending sharply at times and traversing multiple hills and gullies in succession. It's an absolute hoot to drive on a motorcycle.

Bicyclists who use these roadways have more guts or lack of concern for personal safety than I. Maybe they just have a misplaced trust that motorists will see them in time to avoid them.

Also an avid bicyclist I tried riding a section of the paved roads in this park with pedal power. I deemed it just too dangerous. There are no road shoulders in many sections and just no place for a cyclist to go if a car gets too close. I have observed cyclists have numerous close, potentially life threatening encounters with vehicles on these roads. Too bad, the scenery is absolutely amazing.

“A gret plalce for a hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Parking the car in the parking lot halfway down from Gates Pass road will place you at the start of one of the trails in the Tucson Mountain Park. There are so many options of where to walk. The trails have been well maintained and this makes it fun. Desert plants unique to the Sonoran Desert abounds. Enjoy!

“Great walk in the desert.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Good, well groomed walking trails, close to town. Walk a little or take a big hike, easy to do either way.

“An afternoon drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

Tucson Mountain Park is just west of Tucson If you go west on Speedway out through Gates Pass you will see the best of the area. It may be a bit unnerving as you go through the pass but it really is not bad it is just a surprise to see such beauty as you drive. There is the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson and Saguaro National Park, west. All worth as stop and look around. Good picnicking is also available at many spots along the drive; just keep an eye out for critters. After all you are in their home.
