“Run Down Resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2008

Not a premier destination. Old, un-kept, by far not plush. Worst Resort ever stayed in. Suite was large but the furniture and carpet were old and soiled. Shower backed up -waded in water. Stayed for anniversary - extremely disappointed. Don't be fooled - the room and ground renovation has not started. It needs Major renovation.

Westward Look Resort strives to create a positive and memorable experience for every one of our guests. The service and accommadations mentioned by Travel48Travel are not typical, and appropriate action has been taken to ensure these situations do not occur again. Westward Look Resort is in the process of a multi-million dollar renovation that is taking place inside our guest rooms, and every effort is being made to minimize and reduce the impact on our guests' experience. Part of this process is that many people do not even know where the construction is happening due to our ability to isolate it. The interiors of our rooms are being completely refurbished with new furnishings and luxurious baths, in addition, our grounds are being refreshed to offer our guests the serenity and peace of being in the Sonoran Desert. We are very excited about our renovation and look forward to creating more positive and memorable experiences for all of our guests.

Just spent one night with 2 young grandkids and had an excellent time. We live in Tucson so while I was familiar with the hotel, I had never stayed there or seen the rooms. After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit nervous about what to expect. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, letting us check in a little early. Our standard Posada room was quite large and clean with a balcony. We all enjoyed the pools and the grounds. We tried the Lookout B&G for dinner and while nothing special, it was reasonably priced and ok. Resorts in Tucson can be very expensive, even in summer and we were very pleased to pay only $93 (plus the silly resort fee) - can't beat that deal. Highly recommend Westward Look.

The Westward Look was just what we were looking for. Two adults and two teens (15 & 18), we had been traveling all over Arizona, and we just wanted a place where we could just hang for a few days. My wife and I enjoyed wandering around the grounds; our kids were happy just lying by one of the three pools (as were we.)

Nice, secluded feel, but just a short drive from downtown, UA, etc. Rooms were nice, clean and quite large, with a nice little balcony, (although would have been better if we had a fridge).

Restaurant looked very good, but REALLY expensive, (especially if you've got to drag those teens along.) We had a good breakfast there one day but generally opted for cheaper fare elsewhere.

Pretty good deal for the money. I think we paid about $150/night (but then they added a $12/day "resort fee". Why don't they just say it's $162 and stop messing with our minds??? That's annoying) I think I got a better deal by talking to a human than by booking online (which is often the case, in my experience.)

Would we go back? Definitely. But I'd get a refrigerator next time.

Originally booked for 3 nights but e.mailed to see if we could check in 2 days early. We could but they tried to charge me more than I could book it for on the net, so I did it myself. Had a non refurbished room but it was OK. Large, nice bathroom and little semi private patio. Food in the bar was good but a very restricted menu. We did not eat in the Gold Room. We are quite old and our room was a long walk uphill to reception and the bar so you have to drive up or if you ring they will send a valet in a golf cart to pick you up and return you. Had a look at a refurbished room before we left. Very nice with 42" Plasma TV. There was a mistake on my final bill (only $12) but this was rectified quickly. The grounds are immaculate and the staff very pleasant.

Room was comfortable, spacious, and the view of the mountains another plus. Yes, maybe a bit tired, but for the price, clean and perfect if you are spending most of your time outdoors. Lunch in Gold Room was unexpected pleasure: interesting menu selections, well presented and delicious. Staff was uniformily polite. Spa is tiny but servicable. Room was very quiet but parts of the facility are undergoing renovation, so be sure to request quiet room. Lacks the glitz but I think more travelers are trading off glitz for solid value, and this is a lovely old ranch, the grounds meticuously maintained, and with tennis, pool and spa, plenty to do here and nearby.

The grounds were very nice but the room was very dated and not very well equiped. Tiny TV in old cabinet, leftover food in the fridge, no soap. Pools looked nice but it was too cold to swim. Ate a few times at casual and main restaurants and were quite satisfied. Enjoyed walking around the grounds and my friend enjoyed the horseback riding. Employee picked us oranges from an orange tree in the garden. Nice touch. Parking lot was very poorly lit and got in a slight accident with a golf cart that couldn't see. Manager was very rude. All in all we would not likely go back. Wasn't crazy about Tucson, and wasn't wrm enough for a winter holiday but loved the desert, especially the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum.

  • Liked — The grounds, the spa.
  • Disliked — Dark ugly room, far from main building.

We really enjoyed our 3 nite stay here, largely based on the reviews I had read from other TripAdvisor users. Our room was lovely, we had a nice view of the mountains & one of the pools; the only negative was that we were on the lower level & could sometimes hear the floor creak when the people above us walked around their room. Loved the pillow top mattress on our King bed & the quality linens. And, the resort gives you very generous sizes of skin & hair products - & they are of excellent quality too.

Although it has quite a few rooms, it doesn't give the impression of being large because there are at least 3 pools in different locations and a couple of spas spread around. We found the food in the Gold Room to be of excellent quality. The grounds, trails & the wildlife were fantastic. We would most definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it highly.
