“great summer getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

My husband and I just returned from a weekend in Tucson with friends. The Westward Look was our base and a great location with wonderful views. You can appreciate the Sonoran Desert as you walk along the nature path that circles the property. The rooms were extremely spacious (we had a view suite) and beautifully furnished. Loved the bathroom with two sinks and a fabulous shower as well as a mini-frig to store our water (have to drink a lot in the desert).
Breakfast was good quality although we felt they could have provided more variety -- we were on the staycation package so breakfast was included. All the staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend this to families, business people and couples.

Our resort definately has some of the most beautiful views in Tucson. We have the mountain canyons to the north/east and the city lights to the south - as well as the 80 acres of natural desert setting at Westward Look Resort. Whatever type of sightseeing you are into, 360 degress of views! We are here everyday and still have to take a moment to enjoy them every once in a while.
Thank you for your comments and for making the choice to stay with us. We look forward to your next visit.

I booked this room online after seeing info about it on Trip advisor. I paid for a suite with a king bed. I got the staycation rate and that included free breakfast and no resort fee! The breakfast was great! Eggs, bacon, muffins, coffee cake, fruit , french toast and excellent coffee were served! The linens were so soft and fluffy down pillows and comforters! How fabulous. The room was so quiet we got the best rest ever....

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2011

My husband and I both graduated from the University of Arizona and decided to take a "memory lane" trip to Tucson over Independence Day weekend. We stayed at Westward Look for 5 days and in general, had a fairly good experience there, though there were just a few snags.

First, the pros: The resort, while a bit older, is set in the desert and has gorgeous natural landscaping and decor. The rooms are equally beautiful and spacious and there is ample parking near most rooms. The customer service on-site was exceptional and everyone was very friendly. Everyone was very attentive and responsive to the one more moderate concern that came up (see cons below). The resort has a little coffee nook in their lobby, which is great for getting your morning coffee fix at a reasonable price. They also have a business center with free printing, several computers, and WiFi. There are 3 pools and a few hot tubs sprinkled throughout and these were quite clean and provided an enjoyable experience. Our second room had a large balcony with a beautiful view, which gave us incredible front row seats to the first monsoon of the season. Finally, the resort is located off a major road and is in a relatively safe area of Tucson.

Now, the cons (though the first situation again demonstrates the quality of the on-site customer service): On our first night there, my husband got up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Before turning on the bathroom light, he heard something and the light revealed 3 cockroaches scurrying around the bathroom floor. Fortunately, upon reporting this to the front desk, they did not hesitate to move us to an even bigger room and even sent someone to help us pack and carry our bags. The staff apologized profusely, promised to address the problem, and we never did encounter another bug during the stay so I'm apt to think it was a fluke. There are also a few other more minor issues to mention. First, being seasoned travelers, we are in the habit of calling places a few days prior to arrival to confirm our reservations. When we called to confirm a non-smoking room, the person we spoke with was rather rude and said she couldn't guarantee this preference "because we had booked a package deal at a discount." We politely informed her that the amount we were paying was not exactly low dollar and she again stated that rooms could not be confirmed if we had received a discount price. Oddly enough, we called back the next day and the person who answered assured us it would be no problem.

Finally, the last and most minor issue occurred during two of our early morning pool lounging sessions. A groundskeeper came by and began taking down all of the beach umbrellas (even those in use, including ours), grumbling to multiple guests that there was supposed to be a storm that evening. I assured him that we would be happy to put the umbrella down ourselves and that we would be gone long before any storms but he was rather insistent (this was particularly stranger given that there was not a single cloud visible in the sky at the time). The same man came by a different pool we were at on the next day and delivered the same agitated lecture.

Other than a few minor snags, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return to Westward Look.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Westward Look Resort immensely. I will preface my review by letting you know that I was hesitant to book here since I considered the place older, and therefore not as modern or perhaps stuffy. This was not the case.
We arrived early and were promptly checked in. Our room overlooked the desert gardens, the mountains and had a view of the city in the distance. At night we could sit out on our balcony and watch the lights.
The room itself was huge with a nice sitting area, comfy bed with great linens, a separate dressing area -- with a fridge and a nice bathroom. My partner and I enjoyed the fabulous shower -- but some might miss a bathtub.

The pools (3) looked great, but we were so busy seeing things, we never did use them. We did walk the trails thought -- and that was nice.

The restaurant, Gold will be reviewed separately. We booked on the Staycation package -- which was a great deal, but did mean that we were given the same breakfast every morning. Breakfast was served in Gold and it was fabulous to sit looking out over the city with the mountains in the background.

Service, housekeeping, were all great. If I had any advice for the reader -- it would be to make sure you ask where your room is located. Most of the rooms are on the rim of the property and overlook the desert and the city -- but some overlook the parking lot, so be sure to ask or request a specific view/location. The other negative was the internet. Access if complimentary, but the system was down and difficult to access several times.

Overall a great place to stay and we will certainly stay there again when our travels take us to Tucson.

Stayed just before Thanksgiving; place was very quiet. Service is just average (room service trays regularly stayed out all day after calls), but resort's other positives--great pools, location, nice property--more than make up for it. First time here after 2 stays at El Conquistador and think this is better in that category of resort.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay last year. We are happy to hear that your overall stay was a positive experience. We are also supprised to read the comment about the rooms service trays. This is definately falls below our normal standards and will be adressed promptly with the Service Department so that we do not miss the mark with any of our future guests. We hope that you will make the choice to visit Westward Look the next time you are in Tucson.

My significant other & I stopped in Tucson on our way to a conference in Phoenix to visit the Mission San Xavier del Bac & Gallery in the Sun. I found the Westward Look resort here on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try as it was conveniently located right in between our two sight-seeing spots.

We received a rather enticing deal on a travel website so the price was perfect for our overhight stay. We were able to take in the pool & hot tub by our "villa" and use the accomodating fitness roo, during the time we were there.

The polite representatives at guest services wer more than helpful in giving us dining options, as we had arrived rather late. We decided to stop at a local 24-hour superstore, which was conveniently located 2 mins from the resort, to grab a few items to stash in the in-room refrigerator. Along with the refrigerator, the guest room was wonderful & very well-equipped! Spacious, yet comforting...& just what we needed after a 2-hour drive from the airport.

I would definitely reccomend the Westward Look Resort to those traveling through or staying in Tucson!
