“Beauty, Relaxing, Family Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Great suite that is located on the golf course. Great views of Tucson desert, plus local/native plants and animals. Away from the city traffic, but close enough to good food areas and store that allows you to still feel close enough to civilization. Great place for business, family, and friends.

Dear Litamiko ,

Thank you so much for sharing with all of us what a lovely time you and yours had while staying with us at Starr Pass Golf Suites. The seclusion we have here next to the national park is one of our huge selling points and something I am so proud to say we have because it is so hard to find at any vacation destination while also having that proximity to the hub of the city being a fifteen minute drive.

With you comment in regard to the native plants and wildlife I hope you had a chance to go hiking behind the property? It is magnificent how it really opens up and really gives you a tast of the desert surroundings and plant/animal life we have here in Starr Pass.

We so look forward to being of assistance to you and yours on your next trip through Tucson.

With regard,
Rachel Goicoa

We stayed here for a week in March. We liked the location on the western edge of the city. We had a 2 bedroom condo. Our major disappoint was the internet situation. I knew from reading reviews there was no wireless in the room, so I brought along a gadget that turns wired into wireless as I had some work to do. Unfortunately the wired internet wasn't working when we arrived on Friday and we were told it wouldn't be fixed until Monday. Rather then go into all the details, I was told one thing by day shift and another by evening shift, but ultimately it was fixed and it was the router in our unit that was the problem. By Wed we had internet. All the staff was friendly, just not properly informed. We enjoyed the balcony and the wildlife we could see from there, quails, javelinas, many birds etc. There is a golf course, and an onsite restaurant that we didn't use and a pool. No other activities. It's close to hiking, Old Tucson, the Desert Museum and downtown Tucson. The kitchen could have used more equipment, for example no potholders or measuring cups. The beds were very comfortable, but the a/c and heat on the 1 bedroom side was extremely loud. It was fine in the studio portion. There is a double sink in the master bath, tub and very small shower stall. It was adequate. The resort was quiet and the scenery great. I would recommend for friends traveling together and couples.

sd1974,

Thank you kindly for leaving such a detailed review of our property. We so appreciate the honesty in both areas we need to work on and areas that our staff excels in.
I am glad to hear that you and your party enjoyed the view and wildlife, it truly is spectacular and one of my favorite topics of this property. Being fifteen minutes from downtown but right on the edge of the desert with the wilderness and the SahuaroNational Park.
I am glad to hear that the internet issue was resolved for you and apologize for the miscommunication between the staff. I will make sure to note this with my staff to avoid confusion in the future.
On another note I am happy to let you know that we are in the middle of upgrading the kitchens with new appliances so they will be fully stocked in the next several months, we are also due for a large refurbishment that includes the bathroom and introcuding Wi-Fi to our casitas.

We appreciate your understanding of our older property and look forward to being of service to you on your next trip to Tucson. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have any other concerns or comments.

Wonderful visit with our two grandkid 10@12. Enjoyed lazy river and great lobby and their fresh waters. Food was very tasty at grill and bbq golf house. Would have enjoyed lap pool but you needed to be a special guest or spa visiter.
We will return again

Room Tip: Our room was close to lobby. Easy for everything. It almost had a view

grammysharon ,

Thank you for your lovely response of our property. I am thrilled that you and the grandchildren enjoyed your time with us. This has truly been a great spring to lay by the pool and get your summer coat on.

I am curious of the statement "Would have enjoyed lap pool but you needed to be a special guest or spa visiter." Was this in regard to the JW Marriott's pool that is a mile away from our hotel at Starr Pass Golf Suites?

I look forward to your response and welcoming you back to our property next year. I can be contacted at rachel.goicoa@wyn.com

We had a very pleasant stay in a one bedroom unit which is ideal for 2. We stayed in 47A where the patio faced toward the Tucson Mountain Park. Units are air conditioned for the warm sunny afternoons but you are able to open the patio door and bedroom window for the cool evenings and early mornings. The one bedroom unit is very spacious with a full kitchen and large 5 piece bathroom. The only negative things I can say about the unit is the kitchen and bath are outdated and worn, but clean all the same. The furniture including the bed has been updated, so very comfortable and still in good shape. It was very quiet throughout our 1 week stay in late March and the pool facilities were adequate. This is probably not a place to bring the kids as there is little for them to do. The resort is surrounded by a 27 hole golf course which appeared to be in great shape (although we didn't play golf). Since Tucson Mountain park is right next door with miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate, this makes it convenient for outdoor lovers but it's best to hike early in the day as it does get toasty in the afternoon in late March. This resort is far enough away from I-10 but within a short 10-15 minutes to downtown Tucson.

Room Tip: Recommend getting a one bedroom that faces toward the west!

DALA57,

Thank you for such a marvelous review! I am thrilled to know that you enjoyed your week long stay with us. It truly is a magical place up here tucked back in the mountains. I myself have only enjoyed the trails once but have future plans to really explore Starr Pass; if you are into hiking there is a great trail that starts towards the Marriott up to a hundred year old house that's still standing! I've heard it's a nice hike by locals.

We look forward to being of service to you and yours in the future. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly with any further comments.

Whenever my parents come to town I always make their reservations at Starr Pass Golf Suites. It's always such a pleasant stay for them and they always have something nice to say either about the friendly staff or the pretty area that surrounds the resort. They tend to stay in the small-studio room which works great for a night or two. I think the resort has other types of rooms with full kitchens but for my parents the smaller type if more preferable. I would recommend this resort for anyone that enjoys quite surroundings and the desert landscape. Starr Pass is definitely one of the most scenic areas of Tucson has to offer.

Room Tip: You are not guaranteed a bed type but if you call the resort directly they are very accommodating an...

Loochies627,

Thank you for taking the time to give such a glowing review of our property! It's such a pleasure to know that you shared your joy of Starr Pass with your family so they could know how wonderfully scenic and full of wildlife Starr Pass Golf Suites is.

If you ever decide to have a getaway and invite a few people I would suggest the bigger room you mentioned we may have, which we do. It's quite spacious with a full kitchen, master bath/bed, with laundry facilities in the unit.

We look forward to being of service to you and yours in the future.

We greeted with a friendly welcome upon check in. The directions provided made it easy to locate the property. We should have requested a daily paper but were not asked about it until later in our stay. The property was VERY clean and the staff was very helpful. If you needed something, you just needed to ask. There were no outside grills available.

Room Tip: We had a room which overlooked the golf course as well as the mountains. It was very quiet.

Nancy366,

I had a pleasure reading your review in regard to your stay with us in February. I shared this with our staff at our daily meetings and they were just tickled as could be to know that you had found our directions helpful, as it can be pretty hard to find for those unfamiliar with the location, and that our staff in general was of great use to you during your stay with us.

We look forward to accommodating you on your next stop through Tucson.

My wife and I stayed here while attending a 5-day conference at the nearby Marriott Starr Pass Resort (24 hour free shuttle). For half the cost of a hotel room at the Marriott, the Starr Pass Golf Suites offers a one-bedroom suite, nicely decorated in Southwest-native American style, with a full kitchen (gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, full size fridge, coffee maker, blender, cookware and dishes), washer & dryer, fireplace and balcony, king bed. Hotel rooms also available - get the suite.
