Old mission church dating back to 1800's sits on native american reservation Its a white building standing in front of a large front yard with parking beyond. The yard becomes a place to have lunch after 11:00 mass. Native American set up food stands . Can have a good lunch for under $7.00 that will stay with you for the rest of the day as must have beans that are filled with great proteins. Plus the homemade breads are sweet and tasty.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We have visited this mission many times in the past 15 years and it still amazes me. Construction was completed in 1797 and the building continues to be an active parish church for the local Native Americans. The interior decor defies description. A museum and gift shop is also on site.

“Nice little mission in the desert”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Worth the stop on the way back from the Titan Missel museum. Just a couple minutes from I-19 and not a long side trip. You could explore the church for as long as you would like and perhaps join in on a tour.

“Beautifully Restored Mission”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

The mission has had their original statues, paintings and frescoes restored within the last 6 years, so they are colorful and detailed. Be sure to watch the video in the museum or you will not appreciate what has been accomplished at this 1783 mission. Several European countries sent their restoration experts to work on the art work so that the originals retained their initial intent. The video also interprets much of the art so you have an idea of its purpose at the time of its creation.

“White Dove of the Desert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Great free tour with knowledgeable tour guide. Tour is free - separate admission to the museum is charged. We saw the museum as part of the tour. We got a little rushed as a bridal party arrived and pretty much took the place over which was understandable - it is their church. Enjoyed the time we were able to spend there. Easy to get to. Go early rather than later to avoid so many people.Give about 30-40 minutes for the tour. Remember that it is a church and show some respect for others who are seeking a little quiet, inside or outside.
