“The Down Town Attraction!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I stayed in the hotel 17-22 May 2015 and found it very fine with respect its location right in the down town with a connection to Mall, Bus and train. The staff is nice and cooperative. The two tower hotel also has connection with Convention centre.

Room Tip: The rooms opening to Rhode Island State House and down are preferred for sun rise and sunset town a...

Perfect location. Large comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Close to everything. Providence Place Mall skybridge is convenient. Federal Hill also close by. Will definitely stay here again. This is definitely one of Providence's best hotels.

At $400 a night, I expected more in terms of service and amenities at this hotel. My family (2 small kids) and I stayed for 3 nights and I chose the Omni over other hotels for its fantastic accessibility to Providence Mall (cool attached skywalk bridge) and Waterfire and for its indoor pool. We were also given a beautiful view of the Capitol building although I didn't specifically request a room with a view. As for the staff, the valet guys and bell hops were terrific coming in and out of the hotel but there was no one else who ever asked how our stay was going or a doorman at the entrance to greet us coming and going. Minor and major problems also arose during the stay that could have been dealt with better by management. At one point, neither of our 2 key cards could open our room door and, after waiting a while for first reprogramming the keys and then someone from maintenance to arrive when we still couldn't get in, the problem was suddenly solved by pulling hard on the handle to "connect the latch system" better. Maintenance explained this was a common issue when the door gently closes. Maybe someone should have mentioned this peculiarity when we checked in? Also, the safe's door in the room would get stuck often and we finally called maintenance again when the door wouldn't open displaying an "error" message despite putting in the correct pass code. Finally, our kids got painful, itchy rashes after using the likely over-chlorinated pool and hot tub. The chemicals also dramatically changed the color of their swimsuits and fried the ends of my daughter's hair. I reported the issue to the front desk and security who politely assured me that they would test the PH of the water but I had to ask for reimbursement/compensation (it wasn't offered) and there seemed to be no urgency to send anyone to the pool to check (at least while I was filing the report). I did receive a credit for my valet parking only ($84) for the damaged swimsuits but nothing for the kids' pain/suffering. For such a serious issue, I was surprised by this low level of concern and accommodation.

Room Tip: Request a view of the river to watch the Waterfire display from your room.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night after receiving a great discount via Hotwire, however, WiFi at this hotel is not free and runs about $10/day I believe. This hotel is in a fantastic location, and is connected to the Providence Place mall via skywalk and is walking distance to many Providence restaurants. The parking at the hotel is not free, and costs $28/day for valet or $18/day at the connected parking garage for the convention center. We received conflicting information on whether the hotel would validate parking, but in the end they do not. The decoration and service at the hotel was fantastic and the room was very clean and equipped with a mini fridge and coffee maker.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the capitol building have the best view.

We stayed at the Omni Providence on May 21, 2015 enroute to a weekend in Newport, RI. Thought it might break up the trip and let us explore Providence a bit.

The OMNI proved to be an excellent choice. Hotel is easy to find and abundant parking (self or valet) is on site. We did not have to take the car out once it was parked. Restaurants and shopping galore within walking distance (walkway to a huge upscale mall right off the mazzanine). RISD Museum was a great surprise and only a 10 minute walk. Plus there are loads of great pubs to stop at on your walk back to the hotel!

Rooms are new, clean and have everything you will need. Big comfy bed with great linens. There is a great "coffee destination" on the mazzanine - and the baristas are a great resource for things to do and see! The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Everyone who worked there appeared to want to be there - they had smiles on their face and were more than happy to to volunteer info for the out of town traveler.

This is a great hotel for families, romantic "get a way" or business. I look forward to returning to the OMNI if my plans take me to Providence!
