Family and I stayed here on a Sat. evening. I called the toll free and booked the room from there within 30 mins. of arrival as we decided to stay in area overnight. We have stayed at other chain hotels in Prov. several times. Placed in room on 12th floor after asking for a high floor, quiet area of hotel. Room was clean and well furnished. CONS: Room was small compared to the town's other chain hotels. Teeny, tiny closet if you had some luggage, it wouldn't fit in there! Got the highway, exit ramp view. We asked for a room with no adjoining door but got one anyway - No alcohol from room service/no mini bar - you had to go to the bar at Shula's if you wanted a drink. Room service was also through Shula's - the food was decent and arrived at a decent speed but waitress taking room service order by phone was clueless. I had to read and explain the menu to her! ("Oh, wow, I don't have a menu!" she told me.) Parking fee of $20/self park was a rip off and fee for computer use in business center was greedy. (If the Hilton Garden Inn can offer this to guests for free, why can't the Hilton?) Also, limited cable options in room, especially for sports. (Again, front desk suggested going to the bar - re: get out of your room and spend $ at our bar!) PROS: Some of the staff at desk was quite helpful, telling me they would print what I wanted at n/c, even offering to let me peek at the internet on their screen behind the desk and looking up tour info. Bed was comfortable. Request for extra blanket was met quickly and delivered promptly. Starbucks right around the corner for quick breakfast option. FINAL THOUGHTS: There are better hotel values in this town. (Courtyard, Marriott --The Westin has better views, nicer rooms, lobby and location. I'd return only if I got a really good deal. ) Dining, room service and some front desk need more training/hospitality coaching. Stop the "nickel and dime" gouging of your clients. Hilton didn't earn a return visit, tarnished it's rep.

I stayed at the Hilton for Waterfire weekend. Stayed in a king-size room on one of the middle floors, the view wasn't that great because we weren't that high. The room was wonderfully decorated, the bed super soft, comfy and clean. The bathroom finishes were great, and the room was cleaned each day. I thought the staff was polite and friendly, and it was very close tot he mall and the waterfire area.

My only complaints would be that the parking fee was a bit much considering how much the rate of the room was, and that you had to pay for wireless internet.

I believe this hotel used to be a Holiday Inn. Besides some new artwork I don't think the Hilton did anything to improve this hotel. I've stayed in Holiday Inns that are more comfortable than this place.
There is a serious lack of attention to detail for the guests. When we arrived in our room on the 12th floor at 7pm there was garbage from someone's takeout order sitting in the hallway. That garbage was still there at midnight. In our bathroom, we thought it was weird that we hadn't been given a new roll of toilet paper. There was seriously enough for one use left on the roll and I had to change it. At 6:30 am the alarm went off LOUD. We had not set it and were really bothered by the fact that the hotel staff had not set the alarm to the OFF setting. The TV only got 4 channels: ABC, CBS, Fox, and the main menu channel where you can order movies. There was a weird knocking noise in the room, so obvious that my fiance checked the door twice because he thought someone was knocking! When we ordered room service breakfast we were once again dissapointed. The food was cold. I ordered a belgian waffle and asked them to cook it so that it would be a little extra crispy but it was soggy and flavorless. I also asked for well done bacon and it was gelatinous. They did mange to burn my fiance's pancakes though. They also forgot to bring our 2 glasses of orange juice. When we askded the man who brough the food to us to bring us orange juice, he asked if we were sure. Um, yes, it's breakfast time and yes we are sure we want juice. I think he was mentally challenged. Perhaps the worst part of the night was the bed. SO uncomfortable! It was squishy and you couldn't blink without the other person in the bed feeling it.
I've stayed in my share of low budget hotels and this Hilton is right on par with them even though the lobby looks nice and they have a nice restaurant (staffed by loud abnoxious teenagers who leave a mess on the bar). This stay reminded me why I like Hyatts so much. Don't waste your time and money at the Hilton in Providence. The only good thing about this place is the location. Still I'd recommend the Biltmore or Courtyard Marriot.

“Not a Happy Camper”

Hilton Providence

This was the third time I stayed at the Hilton. On my previous trip, there was no water so they shuttled me over to the Westin to shower. Of course I was late for my business appointment and the situation was not helped by the valet not being able to locate my car for 15 minutes.
I decided to give them another chance. After I returned home, I realized I left some clothes in the room. I left a message with Housekeeping yesterday and have had no response. I have called 4 times today and have encountered enough run arounds to cause me to go to Trip Advisor to vent my frustration.

Pros: Comfortable beds. Nice sized rooms. Very clean. Good location convenient to downtown and Federal Hill. Helpful staff. Free shuttle to immediate area (pending availability).

Cons: Ask about construction noise from nearby building. Had to move rooms to the opposite side of the building after the first night. After that, noise was fine. $10 per day internet fee should be free; what a rip off. HD TVs in room but there are no HD channels available.
