“Okay but a few problems”

Radisson Hotel Providence Harbor

This hotel is located near a lot of construction. My husband and I stayed on the second floor overlooking the harbor. The view wasn't great (due to the construction). The bed, however, was amazing (Sleep Number Bed). The room was cramped, but it smelled great and was decorated very nicely. No free breakfast. The hotel staff was not knowledgeable with regard to directions, tourist attractions, etc. They could barely give us directions to the mall which was one exit away from the hotel. Providence is a very beautiful city. Visit the downtown area if you have the time.

“Tough times for this hotel”

Traveling to Providence RI for an overnight business trip with 3 others. This hotel was booked for us.

While approaching the exit saw signs that our exit #3 was closed due to construction.

Went one exit past called hotel got rerouted and arrived. Drove into what appeared to be an alley for the entrance. Check in went fine, rooms are OK, some needed attention. Asked one of the staff how much longer would the hotel be surrounded by Jersey barriers and in the midst of road/highway construction. Was told this would continue until 2012.

The front entrance of the hotel was taken for construction, will be given back to the hotel upon completion. So the alley entrance was not a wrong turn. No work was going on while we were on site.

This hotel is not close to anything. In a industrial area, once the construction is finished and the hotel gets some renovation it may improve but its quite isolated.

Shuttle service was available, good thing we didn't have reservations for dinner as it took the driver some 20+ minutes to find the location of the 1st guest on the shuttle. Please invest in a GPS.

Spent a half hour finding our destination as well. Stopped twice to ask directions.

Upon return from dinner stopped at the hotel bar for a drink. Dinner was being served to a few tables and either the venting system was down or the fryer oil hadn't been changed in some time. Strong aroma of fried food, not a great atmosphere for relaxing.

One of the folks in our group called front desk as his TV wouldn't work. was not taken care of. Also his bathroom fan ran constantly. Another said he had mold in his tub. My bathroom was OK but the room had some of the wall paper starting to drop in one corner and a hole in one of the ceiling tiles. Not a problem for me but not a good sign. Check out went fine.

I would not recommend for anything other than an overnight stay.

Have you ever wanted to pitch a tent in the medium of a highway for the night? Well, that's pretty much what staying at this hotel is like. There is a highway not more than 50 yards outside the window and I couldn't fall asleep at all. The room was fine overall, but the lack of sound-proof windows and a heating/cooling system with a fan setting to at least try to drown out the noise from the highway made this a very unpleasant stay.

Another problem is the hotel's shuttle bus. Not more than ten minutes after being told by the front desk person that it would leave at the top of the hour, I went down to wait for it only to be told by the same person that it probably wasn't going to leave until the half hour.

Providence is a great little city, with great architechture, people, and experiences... unfortunately, none of those can be found at this hotel.

“Good for a one night stay”

Radisson Hotel Providence Harbor

Dec 29, 2007

We stayed in for one night in October 2007. The directions we had required us to drive through town, which was a bit stressful given it was rush hour. We managed to take a wrong turn but did find the hotel relatively easily.
There was a shuttle bus into town but we decided to walk in, through Brown University Campus which was a nice stroll.
Breakfast in the morning was nothing to write home about.
The room was about standard for a Radisson - nothing out of the ordinary. Ours overlooked the harbour and there were some building works going on outside. These didn't disturb us but if you're looking for a room with a view then this hotel probably isn't for you at the moment. However, for one night stay on our way from New Hampshire to Cape Cod for the weekend, it did the trick for us.

Sand Springs Ok
Nov 26, 2007

My wife and I stayed here for one night before flying out in the morning, from our trip to Boston. The room was on the sixth floor with a nice view of the harbor to the south. There was a lot of road construction in the area, so access was a bit difficult, but that is not the fault of Radisson. There is free parking in a covered area available, also more uncovered parking. The entrance is kinda strange in that you enter on the parking level, then go up one floor to the lobby. The wireless internet had a weak signal, but usually worked ok. The sleep number bed was nice to sleep on and the room as a whole was clean and comfortable. I paid $40 through Priceline with two days advance purchase, not a bad deal for a decent room!
