“Good food at good prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

If you don't mind a loud atmosphere, this is a great restaurant on the East Side of Providence. I wasn't tremendously hungry, so had the Grilled Cheese with frites. Large portion and was only able to eat half. Parking is a challenge on the east side, but other than this, would recommend.

“great for gluten free families and lunches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

busy and loud bistro that prides themselves on their fries or "frites" so much that they use a separate fryer which means .... they are GLUTEN FREE! A big treat for our family to have frites. Kitchen is very knowledgeable about food allergies. Kids meals are a deal, adult food is great, all homemade soups, great salads, and full meals. Call ahead b/c it does get very busy in the evening.

“Delicious lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Very nicely done. Three of us enjoyed our meals very much. My mussels and clams were presented in a delicious sauce that had an interesting and delightful combination of chirizo, tomatoes, fennel, and coriander. The fennel was a great addition. Details are good, and Dana's service was just right. I prefer a little later lunch here, because it is noisy when crowded.

“Good brunch spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Red Stripe is a good brunch spot in the area. The service can be a little slow, so expect to be there for a while but if you are looking for a casual weekend brunch - this is probably the best spot in Providence.

“"Something for Everyone"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

Tucked in the middle of the Weyland Square community in East Side Providence, RI is the Red Stripe. Sit inside, grab a bistro table outside, or sit at the bar - whatever you're feeling at the time. Though not quite sure if its origins can be traced to Jamaica - yes, you can get a Red Stripe beer at the bar, as well as a great selection of others and just about any spirit as well. The menu is varied, covering a rather wide specturm of entrees, sandwiches and some pretty interesting appetizers; and, a word of caution - the desserts look pretty dangerous! The crowd is a comfortable cross section of just about anyone in the area - students, families with kids, young and old. Admittedly, it can get a tad loud when the dining area is full, but it's a friendly place with a great staff. It's not a 5 star gourmet - but it's a great meal and excellent value. Red Stripe is a place you should make sure you try any time you're in the area.
