Stayed for a couple of days and had a wonderful experience. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent. The hotel is an old temple that has a nice elegant feel to it. There is a very good bar and restaurant downstairs. The location is excellent. It is located across from the capitol building and offers great views if you can get a room facing it. You can also walk a block away for shopping at the mall or dining in the surrounding restaurants. Federal Hill/Little Italy is also within a mile and has great restaurants. It is also a very short walk from the train station. You can valet park for about $25/day or park at the mall garage for about $20/day. Internet is also $9.95/day. Rooms have small refridgerators and a safe. Overall, this hotel is a very nice place to stay, especially if you can find a good deal online.

The Renaissance is very impressive from the exterior - very commanding. The location is so-so unless you want to spend most of your time at Providence Place - then this is ideal. The rooms were okay - they seemed a little tired - but the beds were very comfortable. The service was very good and worked really hard to be accommodating although there were some minor mishaps they were fixed with cheerfulness. The room was a little noisy. The bathroom was also nice although strangely had a second entrance through the closet. You have to pay for internet connection - many luxury hotels provide this complimentary. The restaurant was quite good and we had a wonderful breakfast. Overall we had a good experience although it clearly was a second tier city and the standards were not up to luxury accommodations you would expect from a first class city.

I would highly recommend the Renaissance. The rooms were beautiful and had everything you could need. The staff was amazing - always very helpful. The location is perfect for a trip to Providence - you are within walking distance of any downtown locations. Given the location and the very upscale quality of the rooms, this hotel is a real bargin. I will be back.

My two friends and I stayed at this hotel in March 2009, and I was blown away at how beautiful the rooms were. It was decorated beautifully. The location is PERFECT, right next tot he Capital building. The service is impeccable. Highly recommend it!
