“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014 via mobile

This is the most imaginative food I have eaten in a long time - thoughtful, interesting, but not fussy. Although there is a lot of pork on the menu, there were also a lot a vegetarian options, enough for three people to share happily. And happy we were.

“eclectic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

had a root vegetable platter which sounds disgusting anywhere else but it was tasty and healthy here

good oysters, although a little bit salty

liked the house wine

interesting reset with tamarind cubes that look like caramels and barks of white chocolate and sesame bark

very interesting and just the right portions. great for groups, chique decor, servers don't bother you every 5 minutes, speedy service, and very cozy

“This is a destination dine! Memorable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

Tiny, vibey little place that reminds me of some of my favorite spots in lower Manhattan. Sweet and efficient servers. This is Asian-themed food, but WAY more innovative than that phrase implies. A chef at another Providence foodie spot sent me this way and said North's chef worked with David Chang at NYC's Momofuku. Whether that's true or not, I think it gives a great insight into the style of the food. I started with very good fried oysters, though not what I expected - the fried oysters are at the center of an unusual (unfried) spring roll type thing. The sesame noodles, though, are what would bring me back. The noodles themselves were awesome, but the garlicky fried broccoli that studded each bite; perfection. Such a perfect meal - and ridiculously reasonably priced! Such a win.

“Creative and Trendy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

This tiny restaurant can seat 21 people and a few more at the bar. It opens at 5:30 and all the tables are filled by 5:31. The menu changes continually, so you never know what there will be, but you can always count on a few things. It will be strange, it will be inventive, it will be local & fresh, there will be vegetarian options.
The tables are set with small bowls and instead of a little vase of flowers, in the center of the table is a glass filled with chopsticks. All the food is served family style. You order a variety of dishes and then you share. Each dish ranges in price from a few dollars to slightly over $10. The bar menu is standardly priced with a variety of mixed drinks concoctions and wine. I had an organic dark beer from the list of micobrewed options.
My favorite dish was the cauliflower. I really have no idea how to deconstruct the dish, but it was wonderful.
There was one dessert on the menu which we had to share. It was a corn cake with apple compote and creme fresh. Simple. Perfect.
Dinner for 4 adults cost $100.

“Foodies...you MUST eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Best.Meal.Ever. If you're a foodie, you MUST eat here. It's off the beaten path, but totally worth it. It's a small, cozy place with wonderful drinks, incredible food and helpful, attentive staff. We had all of the vegetarian style menu items and they blew us away. The sesame noodles dish, even if you're a carnivore, are a must have. Other members of our group raved about the ham biscuits, the ramen and the dan dan noodles. Seriously, this is the only restaurant you need to visit in this city. Simply awesome
