We were visiting Providence on vacation and asked around for "the best seafood with the best location/view in the city." We read great reviews on here about Hemingways, and our hotel front desk recommended it as well. Well, don't count on too much of a view. It's on the river, but I wouldn't say it's a "good view" - it's not exactly very pretty and there's no vantage point - maybe it's better during the day, but we couldn't see much in the evening. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and upscale and the food was pretty good, but nothing exceptional in my opinion and nothing I couldn't have gotten at any good, upscale steak/seafood house anywhere in the country. The staff was very friendly but the service was slow (that may be their style, I don't know, but we both commented on it). So bottom line, if you're looking for quality food and upscale atmosphere, I'd recommend it (pricey, though). But we were really looking for a local flair and something special, but didn't find it here.
