Stopped here for a drink on the way home from a night out on Federal Hill. Hadn't been here since it was the Gatehouse years ago, and wanted to check it out since the Newport Restaurant Group took over. Saturday night was extremely busy, but we got 2 seats at the bar within a few mins and really enjoyed being able to see the open kitchen with wood-fired grill, etc. from our seats. The fresh baked bread that we saw on the wood grill was excellent. All of food coming out of the open kitchen looked and smelled so good that we ended up ordering the grilled sea scallop entree to share. It was very, very good. All of the staff, from the hostess to the bartender, servers, and managers were exceptionally courteous and very attentive. And it was obvious that all knew their jobs and did them well, in spite of being such a busy nite. To me, that is a sign of a very well-run restaurant. Can't wait to go back again and try some of the wood-grilled meat specialties...they looked fantastic.
