We stayed here 7/1 and 7/2. The location is great for Thayer Street shopping and Brown University. It's a 15 minute walk to downtown, but you can use the trolley too.
Our room was on the second floor and had a separate living room area with daybed and fireplace. The doorknob handle for the bathroom didn't have any screws on it, but it did stay shut. You can't lock your room from outside, so be prepared for that. You are able to slide a lock across once inside your room, but unable to lock the room when you are not there.
The furnishings were an odd mix of antiques and items picked up from their travels, some worked in the room and some just looked out of place. The room was clean and neat.
Breakfast was coffee, bagels, breads and fruit. Scrambled eggs were also offered.
The people that stayed above us both evenings were very loud throughout the night, so I'd request a room on the top floor if you don't want to be disturbed by guests walking across the old wooden floors all night.
All in all, it was a great price and location with a friendly host. Our only bad thoughts were that the room didn't lock and the noisy upstairs guests.
We'd stay here again, but DEFINITELY book the top floor room.
