“Nice Courtyard in good location/has been renovated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

This is a typical modern Courtyard in a good location downtown near the main park and fountain. You can walk to restaurants, Starbucks and restaurants, and the Providence Mall/Nordstroms, etc. It has been renovated like many Courtyards to the bistro motif.

This hotel affords the typical Courtyard experience but has the added benefit of a well-trained and caring staff. Without fail they were able to answer any questions I had or to provide directions and recommendations. The hotel is located just across from the Water Fire basin. And yes, ask, there is a back way to exit out onto Memorial Drive without the need to walk around the block from the front entrance. A well-developed mall, eateries, drugstore and safe walking areas are right there. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and friendly. This is a hotel of choice on my next visit

Room Tip: Rm 327 has a beautiful view of the Water Fire basin and the state capitol. A beautiful view of the...

I wish I had known that the Westin was next door to this hotel. The beds were uncomfortable. The rooms were noisy facing the street, and I asked to change to the other side. That room was more quiet until the college soccer team staying across the hall came in at 2 am and started yelling obscenities. The one bright spot was that the room service menu was a collection of local restaurants that deliver directly to your room. There was no business center, but the front desk did print something for me.

My wife and one son stayed one night in the courtyard Providence Downtown as we were visiting colleges in the area. The Hotel was very clean and the room we were in seemed to have been recently updated. We stayed in a corner room on the 6th floor and had a great view of the capital building and of downtown Providence. Check-in was easy and the beds in the Marriotts are always good. If you have your car it is $26 a day extra to have your car park with valet service or you can use the parking garage yourself that is located below the hotel for $20 a day. For dinner we walked to the Federal Hill section of town where there are great italian restaurants. The Hotel was also easy to get to from route 95. If I am Providence again we stay here again

Room Tip: Get a room on high floor for better view and less noise from street

We stayed one night. The room was quite clean, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom simple but clean. A perfectly fine hotel for a stay in Providence.

Our stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Providence was just okay. The hotel is functional but definitely not on par with other Courtyards and certainly not as nice as the Marriott brands Fairfield Inn or Residence Inn. Service was very good exhibited by the willingness to move our room due to smoke smell. But the room amenities were lacking. First and foremost - the pillows are terrible. Each of the six pillows on our bed was flatter than the next. All synthetic filled and felt like cotton balls. The bed was decent but definitely felt old. The windows are thin and, even on the 5th floor, it was very loud until around 1am. The bathroom was very clean and the carpets were very clean too. The location is decent and easy to find. Parking, for $26 seemed high but I'm not sure what the competitors charge.

We stayed here for our first anniversary and were not disappointed. The Courtyards are lower scale but this one was plenty updated for our liking. The decor in the room is modern and faux-Asian, the bathroom is efficient but no operating exhaust fan. Free wifi and coffee (both in the room and during breakfast on the lobby floor) was a plus as was reasonable access to the pool, hot tub and fitness room (all of these close at 11pm but the maintenance guy is watching ;) ).

The location is fantastic for the things we wanted to see as long as one is in for decent walking. We walked along the river to see the Waterfire display (5 min to get there).
The RISD Museum of Art is 10 min
Brown is 10 min away
Wickenden St. (15 min) - eclectic beatnik scene with nice dining options
Federal Hill (15 min) - excellent dining in an active Italian district
Bus stop (1 min) - a bus trip of 45 min will get you to Newport which has the fabled mansions owned by the wealthy elite of the Gilded Age.
State capital (10 min)
There was also 4 restaurants just outside the hotel below the street level.

shuttle is available before 10pm - $11 per person
taxi to airport $30 plus tip

good location, great amenities, friendly staff - I'd stay here again.
