Our room was nice and clean. The room wasn't anything special, but the staff was very accomodating. When we checked in I asked if they could upgrade us. They put us on the concierge floor. They said that on this floor they have more renovated rooms. Also, there was a concierge room with refreshments, however, it was closed on all Friday and Saturday, which I think is dumb. But overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommondations for restaurants because this was our first time there. The hotel is in a pretty centrally located area. Overall, I was very happy with the hotel.

“A bit off the beaten path”

Decided to go out to Providence for a Saturday night and rather than have to drive home to Boston we decided to stay overnight and got the hotel via Priceline.

The front desk staff was helpful and processed us in quickly. The hotel appears to have been built in segments as there is a wierd hallway flow. We found our way to the room and the soft goods were recently updated but the furniture and tube television were not. The bathroom had the standard Marriott amenities.

The hotel hosts a small bar and restaurant. We did not eat at the restaurant - but the bartender was friendly and engaged us on places to check out in the evening. They also have a small store which sells Starbucks along with other sundries. They offer complimentary internet access in a small room behind the front desk. They also have an indoor pool and offer a shuttle van.

The hotel is on the back side of the State Capitol building so it is set off from the actual downtown Providence area by a good 15 minute walk. That was its only drawback.

I spent 8 days at this hotel and had the best hotel experience. The staff and service were all first rate.
The food in the hotel superior and the chef even came to our table to check on our meal .
I found all the staff from the hotel manager to the housekeepers all polite and provided the highest customer service.

“Nice Hotel”

I only stayed here one night for a business trip but the rooms were nice enough. We didn't arrive until about midnight but our reservations were fine. The only problem I had was that the heat wasn't on in my room when I got into it and when I turned it on the air in the room ended up getting painfully dry. The concierge lounge was nice and overall it was a good Marriott for a business trip.

“Great spot for downtown access”

Carlsbad, NM

My purpose in visiting Providence was business. Although, having stayed at this location, I would certainly bring the family back and stay. This location was perfect for me to walk to and from the RI Convention Center (~1 mile) each day. I rented a car because I had business in Warwick earlier in the week. Although, other than getting to the airport, only used the car once during the week to go sightseeing and get lost (sometimes a good thing).

The hotel is very nice, with comfortable beds. As other reviews point out, the hotel is much older. This is not a bad thing. It actually adds charm and character to the architecture. It also means thicker insulated walls and less sound intrusion from neighbors. Internet service was excellent. Easy to hook up and very fast.

The bar and restaurant were a little too upscale for me. However, they appeared to be very elegant with professional looking wait staff. The fitness room is split into two rooms. The room with cardio equipment has a view of the indoor pool. Has treadmills, bikes, and eliptical machines. The room with the resistance equipment is small, but has a decent set of free weights and universal machines.

If you can book at the Marriott downtown for under 100 per night, you are getting a good deal.
