“Fine museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Close to Brown and RISD, this is a great place to visit when in town. The hardest thing is to find adequate street parking..

“Lovely museum on a beautiful campus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Visited the RISD museum during a family trip to Rhode Island. The staff here were very friendly and there are about 5 floors, four of which have exhibits. There is an admission fee, 12$ for adults and reduced entry for children, seniors, and college students. We went on a Wednesday with closing time at 5pm. Some exhibits include American landscape photography, European paintings and the amazing Pendleton House. Pendleton is highly recommended for those interested in interior design and American history. It features home furnishings and decor from the 18/19th centuries. It was great to tour this time capsule.

“A real gem of a New England museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The RISD museum, which has some great Impressionist, medieval, and Japanese art plus a fine collection of American colonial furniture, is one of those museums you can enjoy knowing you can manage to see most of the collection before your eyes and concentration succumb to fatigue. A major, must-see tourist destination in Providence.

“What an unexpected gem!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

What a marvelous museum...something for everyone. French impressionists, antiquities, colonial artifacts, modern art. We had no idea that RISD had such an impressive museum.

“Little quiet Gem amidst College Hill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

If you are visiting either RISD or Brown University, or even a meeting in Downtown Providence and have a coupla hours, you MUST stop in and see this Art museum. A great mix of modern art, historical art back to the Greeks, traditional works by Picasso, Monet, and Van Gogh, as well as new works by the students at RISD. Just terrific!! As they have new expositions regularly, if I am in Providence again, i would visit it again. They were preparing a photography exhibit that was not yet open but which I could see a little of as I walked by, would be worth the visit.
