“Take a trip back in history - with Style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

This is really a great property. I brought my sales team here for meetings last week and everyone really enjoyed the hotel.

My wife and I stayed in the Lodge, room 1302. While the Ghost Hunters found the room haunted, we mostly enjoyed the spacious room with a large tub and a comfy bed. Included with the lodge is a great breakfast and an afternoon tea.

One evening we took the 90 minute Ghost Tour, which was fun and educational.

If this hotel is not on your list of places to stay, you should add it.

Also make sure to visit Rocky Mountain park, just outside of town.

Room Tip: Stay at the lodge and upgrade to a suite.

Thank you for bringing yourself and the team here to visit! 1302 is a fantastic room as it is very private and has probably the best views in the house. Our tour team does a great job, and we appreciate your kind words. Thank you again, and we will see you for next year's sales retreat!

Had two coupons for $99/night to stay at this iconic hotel. We have visited the site before but never overnight. We had a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel clean and peaceful. We stayed at The Lodge, as opposed to the main building. As our building was closed to everyone except staying guests, we did not see a lot of ghost hunters as other reviewer did. Our room was small, but very comfortable. We had a separate living room with a couch, table, chair and TV armoire. The second room held an extremely comfortable king bed and large dresser. The was also a large flat screen TV on the wall across from the bed. The bathroom was small and because our room was on the top floor (converted attic) the ceiling sloped downwards. Anyone over 6 ft would be challenged by that bathroom. Even at 5' 7, I had to stoop a little to see the top of my head in the mirror with drying my hair. While there is no A/C in the room, the open windows, ceiling fans and mountain air kept the room comfortable cool. Yes, the hotel is a little dated and very pricey without a Living Social or Groupon discount, but the location, service and comfort, not to mention the herd of Elk that we saw wandering the grounds made for a spectacular visit.

Thank you for your recent visit, we appreciate your business. This is the time of the year to be careful of the elk as well because it is calving season. Our chef just got attacked on the golf course yesterday! We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Thank you again.

Got a coupon for 1 discount night and made it a 2 night stay a bit before Memorial Day. I did get charged then credited for one of the nights and it eventually cleared itself up. Cleaning staff thought we were checking out after only 1 day...

The room was on the small side compared to some hotels but it is an old inn so we knew what we were getting. It was clean and there was a jetted tub. Yes, no AC but that wasn't bad for the time of year.

My wife and I Noticed right away torn carpet on the grand staircase and cart damage to the walls that just seemed painted over. A detraction for this luxury stay.

We had appetizers/drinks in the bar one night and dinner in dining room the next. Appetizers were great, reasonably priced and we had a very personable waiter. Dinner was a different story. The entree was pretty good but the all the other items on the plate were lacking in quality in some way. Either cold or undercooked. My dessert came and didn't look like others we've seen go by earlier. It was put down by not our main server and he disappeared so fast couldn't ask until later. (Ran out of something so it was missing a piece).

Visitors should realize one part of the Hotels' bread and butter is doing wedding parties. Seemed like our wait staff was harried because of this and the noise from the parties carries upstairs until it shuts off at 10PM.

Yes we were taken aback that guests had to pay for tour and that we continually had to go around tours on the stairs to get to our room.

May be better to stay in one of the outlying buildings but then what is the point of paying the hefty price to say you stayed at the Stanley...

My wife and I have stayed at several old hotels around Colorado and felt like this stay didn't deliver the same return for its cost (say like Brown Palace in Denver, Beaumont in Ouray)

Room Tip: 2nd floor was too close to wedding parties, sounds like 4th floor may be cramped from other reviews.

Fantastic location in Estes Park, overlooking the mountains of Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park. I stayed in The Lodge; my room was really nice and the included breakfast buffet was great. (Apparently, I haven't written enough to suffice the 200 character minimum - so let me say that I happened to stay there during the inaugural Horror Film Festival and having zombies wandering around town was a very cool experience).

The Film Fest was a hit, and I am happy that you were able to experience that! The zombies were really fun and added a neat twist to the weekend. Midge and her staff at the Lodge do an amazing job. Thank you for your business and we will see you at next year's Film Fest.

The drive into Estes Park was very scenic...winding road for most of the trip to the Hotel. The Hotel is grand...elegance and historic. We checked in and the staff were very friendly and professional. We had to change our reservation and they accommodated us without hesitation or question.
The Room we had was perfect for the age of the hotel. The only complaint we had with respect to our room was there was an obvious layer of dust under the bed; on the door panels, window sills and a stand-a-lone electric fan.
It was a Friday, and the hotel was busy. So busy that trying to find a table for food service was next to impossible. We went downstairs to the café shop to get a quick sandwich and they were out of sandwiches so we wound up going to a local Safeway deli.
All in all, the stay was okay. A beautiful hotel and I can't forget to mention the bellman who gave great service.

We had an amazing time at The Stanley Hotel. There were a couple weddings the weekend we went, so they upgraded us to a condo for no charge so we wouldn't be put out. The condos had a private hot tub, full kitchen, and beautiful upgrades. The staff was so nice and helpful, and the scenery is unbeatable. The staff was more than accommodating to us to make our trip unforgettable. The bar had delicious cocktails and the atmosphere was unbeatable. We will definitely be back to The Stanley Hotel soon!

We stayed in room 407, the "second most haunted room" in the hotel and we paid $404.00 per night. Toilet was broken, had to flush it by putting our hand into the tank to pull the stopper up. Room was REALLY small (about 17' x17'), there was a bed, a desk and a dresser, which were crowded into the small space. Bathroom was about 8'x8' and the toilet was right behind the door so if anyone came in while you were on it, they hit your kneecaps. The shower did not have any shelf for soap or shampoo, so we had to put them on the floor, so sanitary... The ONLY elevator for 100 rooms broke down twice, we had to hike up 4 floors to get to our room. TV was broken, the only thing we could watch was a self-serving video of some woman driving the Stanley Steamer car with Country music in the background, we couldn't even turn it off, and had to pull the plug on the TV to turn it off! Breakfast was not included (for $404 per night?), tour of hotel ($17 per person) was by a teenager who must have used the word "kinda" and "Um" 200 times, he was a newbie who told us many times what he DIDN'T know and kept saying "Um, take some pictures." as if he didn't know anything more to say. BTW, no ghosts, just 1:00 a.m. (high?) teen visitors looking for thrills, camping in the hallways. (We told the front desk about them but they just told us that people want to see ghosts....) Overall, our recommendation is to STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE in Estes Park and visit the hotel for the history. It is beautiful and the history is fascinating, but this is a definite no-stay in the hotel recommendation for anyone. Donate the extra $$ you will save to your favorite charity.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else in Estes Park and visit the hotel for the beauty and history. No A/C if you are...
