We arrived on Monday, Sept. 9th, expecting to stay for 3 nights. We had made reservations by phone with a helpful young man. We didn't know what to expect, but the lobby was inviting and our room was very comfortable and everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet was great. We were liking it just fine, and then the rains and the flooding came. That is when we found out how lucky we were to be there. Half of the staff couldn't get in to work, but our room was thoroughly cleaned and the people were all friendly and helpful. The food they put out would have been outstanding in any circumstances, but they did it with limited help and inventory. The food service people were superb! We had to stay an extra night when all the roads out of town were closed. The lady at the front desk couldn't have been nicer. Turned out she couldn't get home and there was flooding at her house, but she kept on helping us all out with information and suggestions. We were glad to have the same room, and booked it for two nights, just in case. On Friday, we were told that the Trail Ridge Road was open. We didn't know whether to stay where we were - safe and comfortable, or try to get back to Denver for our tour that was starting Saturday morning. We finally decided to go, and were comforted to be told they would fit us in if we had to come back. We did make it to Denver that day, but if we ever get back to Estes Park, Rocky Mountain Park Inn would definitely be our hotel of choice.
