“Awesome staff,comfortable beds,perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

We were so lucky to stay at Murphy's resort during the flood in September. Hardly anyone had cell phone service or Internet in all of Estes Park. The wifi was working here and the staff let us use their phone that was based on that. They went out of their way to help us communicate with the family and friends trying to get to Estes Park for our daughter's wedding. Jessica (who works at the resort) volunteered to do my daughters nails in addition to doing her normal jobs and relaying messages to our daughter from us and others trying to make it to Estes Park. Loretta and Annette are so wonderful and went so above and beyond that we thought they owned the resort instead of just running it. Loretta even volunteered to do the brides hair if a hair dresser was not available. They sent out social media inquiries looking for a wedding dress for my daughter since hers was stuck in Longmont, which was inaccessible due to flooding. Bruce, who works there, was also a comfort and help to us. Aside from the awesome staff, The beds were so comfortable And the layout of the rooms was perfect...there were suites that had a bed in one room and a separate room with another bed... Perfect for our big group with extended family members. We loved the decor also...especially the
Marilyn Monroe suite that had big beautiful pictures of her. the complimentary continental breakfast was great too! We hope to return soon to Estes Park and will always stay here!

My husband and I rode into Estes Park on our motorcycles on the front end of the September 2013 flooding. We had planned to use Murphy's as our base for three days of day rides. The flood brought all of that to a halt, but the staff at Murphy's kept everyone well informed, dealt with the flood, and provided wonderful service. We spent two nights in one of the rooms without the lake view. It was nicely remodeled and had super heroes as the theme. Nice big ceramic super hero cups and framed posters on the wall. The beds were new and comfortable. We then spent one night in a lake-view room. Again nicely remodeled. We like having the motorcycles parked right outside our door.

Stuck in Estes Park during the flooding, we left another lodge in danger and stayed with Murphys. We had stayed at their other place, Murphys river lodge, last year and found that one also excellent. This trip we found the newly remodeled Murphys Resort on the other side of town and picked them. Great service, great folks, excellent room with a view of Estes Lake,.

In fact,we had the room next to KellyP and followed the wedding progress as we could. It was great Friday when some of their guests made it into town, that really cheered the couple up! The crew at Murphys is the best, very accomodating, and we even saw again the crew from the river lodge, who had evacuated with their guests since that lodge is on the river bank.

We cannot recommend Murphys high enough for any stay in Estes Park, once the roads are reopened.

Room Tip: The lake view rooms are the best

Many thanks! This was a time to pull together. We were fortunate to have been able to house our sister lodge and others. We hope you return soon. The sun is shining, new days ahead. They have opened road for public entry. (recommend checking with C-dot) Look forward to seeing you again!

Recently traveled to Estes Park, Co. for a wedding...Yes, right in the middle of the 100yr flood. Had reservations at a local house that slept 20 that the access road got washed out. Fortunately we ended up at Murphy's where the managers and staff bent over backwards to do everything they could to help us salvage the wedding-which we did. In the end, we had a great time(although stressful at times) and made some good friends with the staff. Very accommodating and friendly!

I don't know how I can even begin to thank the entire staff of the Murphy's Resort. My new husband and I were planning to have our wedding in Estes Park on 9/15/13 ... the weekend after the devastating flooding across Colorado. Across Estes Park, the phone/internet service was out, the majority of the other weddings scheduled were cancelling, people were evacuating, my guests couldn't get into Estes, and my wedding dress was stuck at a dry cleaners in Longmont (which also sustained severe flooding). Our hopes of continuing forward with our wedding were drowning. The staff at Murphy's Resort pulled out all of the stops to help us in every way possible and I'm convinced my wedding would not have happened without them! They sent emails and posted on facebook and twitter about a bride who needed a wedding dress and found 2 people in the town that let me try on their wedding dresses!! They also contacted the owner of the local bridal shop to have the store opened for me to try on alternate dresses. They kept us abreast of the local developments with road closures and upcoming weather conditions. They also helped us make innumerable phone calls to our vendors and guests helping get them into the town. They are very flexible allowing our guests to add/cancel rooms as needed due to the extenuating circumstances. The staff at Murphy's Resort soon became my Estes Park family so it only seemed natural that they came to my rehearsal dinner and they even attended my reception!! My new husband and I are eternally indebted to this caring and most wonderful group!

Thank you. we are delighted to have been able to brighten your stay. I must say looking back I feel there are benefits on both sides. Making the best of a bad situation; seeing the 2 of you (and your family) the love reflected life, growth, positive energy in a moment of despair. We will not soon forget. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future, we wish ALL of you and your family the best!
Thank you for staying with us and allowing us to be a part of a very special moment in your new life! Great times, great people, memorable moments. Best wishes, from your Murphy family.

We had the real pleasure of staying at Murphy's Resort on 9/5/13. We were very impressed with the friendly staff, clean accommodations and brand new mattresses !!! Everything was perfect including the breakfast/breakfast room. The staff was extremely helpful and we enjoyed talking to them about the best things to do and see in the area. We would strongly recommend this place and would go back there anytime.

What a fantastic, low key place to stay! Melissa and Shannon were SO helpful when I needed to take care of a few business related items and didn't have access to a printer or scanner. The resort was quiet and I had a great view of the lake--not to mention it was extremely clean. Would definitely stay here again. Great for the price and the location!
