5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

The title says it all. the sweet spot for comfort and price. The staff was helpful in answering questions about the area, the stream out back is nice, the Spa is great....I'm looking for an excuse to go back there again soon.

We stayed there for three nights with our son. It's a good location and close to downtown. The room is nice and clean with the microwave and refrigerator. You can look at the river from the back patio. The breakfast is good too. Nice and friendly staff.

Thank you for your review! I am so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. The river is very relaxing to sit by. Our River rooms are very popular and people also enjoy sitting out on the large balcony off of our breakfast room in the mornings.

Great place to stay. Walking distance to town so you don't have to worry about parking. Rooms are cleaner than most you'll find anywhere and the staff makes you feel like they know you. I would highly recommend this place over the others we have stayed at in Estes park

I was very impressed with Murphy's River Lodge. Although it was a roadside motel, it was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds were some the most comfortable in any hotel I've ever stayed at -- much better then Hiltons, Hyatt's, Marriott, ext). I would go back again without thinking twice.

We originally went to Estes Park for a wedding. The wedding was further out and we wanted to stay closer to the shopping and stuff to do. I researched and found this place. It was 2 blocks walking to the downtown area. The parking was a mess to park anywhere downtown on the weekends. Good thing we could park at the hotel. The room was super cute on the second floor and the view was amazing. It is worth it to pay a little more for the river stream. We opened the windows and listened to the strong stream the entire time. If you get the river view you can see the mountains behind it. Close to town with shopping and restaurants, great views, clean, free breakfast, Fall River sounds, and mountain views. Four miles from the Rocky Mountain park entrance. Great place I would recommend this!!

Room Tip: River front rooms are worth the extra pay

This is one of the best places we've stayed in Estes, and we've stayed in several. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and have everything you could need. It was nice to be able to walk into town and not have the hassle of parking. It was a great experience, and we will definitely be back!

Estes Park is the best base for exploring the Eastern site of the Rocky Mountains National Park in Colorado - a stunning area for walking, driving, spotting elks and moose and, if you are up to it, climbing massive mountains. However, the majesty of the national park is not reflected in the rather tacky town of Estes Park. A line of sweet shops, souvenir stalls and even places selling Christmas junk in the middle of summer.

So the fact that Murphy's is rather on the edge of town (but still very easy walking distance) is not a bad thing. Rooms were comfortable, friendly reception - all OK.

Next door is the Big Horn bar and diner, a great place for breakfast. While you are eating they will make you a huge sandwich (one between two is fine for a UK appetite) for your picnic lunch. Good fun. Eating out in the evenings is a bit hit and miss. We had a good dinner at a riverside Italian Mama Rose, and one good and one indifferent meal at Wild Rose.

Don't miss driving up the Old Falls River Road a few miles into the national park.

Room Tip: Some reviewers say go for a room overlooking the river - but actually it doesn't make a lot of d...

Thank you for your review! Our location is among one of the best in town. 3 1/2 miles from an entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park and yet two blocks from all the shops. Estes Park has long been a destination for visitors seeking clear skies, fresh air, outdoor activities, and beautiful scenery. Our shops allow visitors to be able to buy a souvenir to have along with their memories. Three million tourists visit Rocky Mountain National Park each year; most use Estes Park as their base. The City of Estes Park accommodates all these visitors by working very hard to keep our street exceptionally clean and trimmed with beautiful flowers and plants. Estes Park provides entertainment and activities for visitors to enjoy all summer long.
