My husband and I spent a week here in the Sundance Suite. We would absolutely recommend it! Our suite had a very comfortable bed, a sitting area, a double-sided fireplace that faced both the bed and the bathroom, and a large jacuzzi tub as well as a shower. There was also a mini fridge, microwave, and cable tv. Even wine glasses, a corkscrew, two plates, and plastic cutlery were provided so you could enjoy restaurant leftovers easily. There is also a hot tub on the property. Breakfasts are abundant and delicious, and you can get a box lunch to take along on hikes. The owners, Sheree and Carlos, give great restaurant recommendations, and others on the staff are very knowledgeable about hiking in the area, etc. The location is within walking distance of the fairgrounds (the Long's Peak Scottish Irish Festival was going on there during our stay) and an easy drive from downtown for shopping. Since we stayed a full 7 days, we got a nice discount. We were very happy with our stay.

Every year, for the last 5 years, my husband and I have stayed in Estes, as part of the parent weekend at Cheley Camp. We have had the opportunity to stay at many nice B and B's and hotels, and I have to say that the Black dog ranks among the best. As previously stated the breakfast are amazing! The food is fresh, unique and the inn keepers are even nice enough to give you their recipes for their wonderful dishes.
The hosts were amazing, so helpful! They arranged dinner, suggested hikes, and even arranged a couples massage for us in our room. Speaking of the room, it was spotless. I am very picky when it comes to towels and linens,I hate chintzy towels and polyester comforters, the Black Dog had BIG fluffy towels and very nice duvets with great thread count sheets!.

My ONLY problem with then B and B was the actual bedroom. We stayed in the Mummy suite, which is right next to the inn entrance. I worried that it wouldn't be very private, but actually it was fine. The issue was the bed. It is situated in a "nook" in the corner of the room, kind of elevated above the living room. The ceiling is rather low, and there is no circulating air. The bed was comfy, BUT there are no windows, actually there are two small windows but both are boarded shut from the outside?
Granted, it was one of the few hot days in Colorado, however, the bed area was extremely stuffy, even with all of the other windows open and the ceiling fan on. It was stiflingly hot.
I talked with the inn owners, and they were nice enough to give us a fan for the bed area, which helped, but I did end up sleeping on the couch a few nights just because I am a fanatic for fresh air. So, if you are at all claustrophobic, choose another room, otherwise this inn is fantastic!.

  • Liked — The fantastic breakfasts, and cookies in the room upon arrival
  • Disliked — The claustrophobic bed area, hard to find at night, could use better signage and lighting.

Spent a week with my girlfriend at the Black Dog Inn - a tremendous little place in Estes Park and highly recommended. The owners are tremendously helpful and friendly, especially when it comes to seeing sights in the park and restaurant recommendations. Unfortunately we were so busy with activities that we got to spend little time in the actual room! The breakfasts were excellent as well - would definitely return and stay here again!

  • Liked — The breakfasts
  • Disliked — They need better lighting and signs in and around the entrance/driveway, especially at night

Located them on the web - then called for reservations. This is a MUST if you like a wonderful B&B - gosh the breakfast served alone is enough to make you gain 10 lbs. The hosts are so wonderful and warm - as is all of the staff. The accomodations are great - very clean and comfy. It was a joy to stay there.

  • Liked — The friendliness and comfort at the inn. The family style breakfast gives a chance to meet others.
  • Disliked — That I had to leave!!! =(

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Black Dog Inn and we were very impressed! We were only in Estes Park for one night and we thought we'd try another B&B. We stayed in the Twin Owls cabin, which was absolutely amazing. It was gorgeous-- there were only two of us, so there was much more room than we needed, but it was great. We were there for a nice romantic (short) week-end. From the fireplace, candles (love this romatic touch throughout the cabin), jacuzzi, gorgeous views ... our one night stay seemed much longer and was so relaxing! We are planning on going back to the Black Dog in the Fall to see the beautiful colors. The Twin Owls cabin was extremely clean, looked brand new. The hospitality was super-- the breakfast was wonderul. We are definitely sold on B&B's. If you're looking for a beautiful place to stay in Estes Park with hospitality and charm... don't look any further... give the Black Dog Inn a call.
