“A couple disappointments, BUT the Owner of this lodge really took care of us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2010

We stayed in the Great Room for one night. It was absolutely beautiful. The only negative things I had to say were that there was NO phone. (I have kids at home, and needed a way for them to contact me). Also, it was not quite as private as the pictures on the internet portrayed. Also, there is no dishwasher and a sign above the sink telling you to do your own dishes and put them away or you will be charged a 20% fee. I thought this was a little rude considering how MUCH we paid to stay there. But still, it was beautiful.
Our private grill would not work, after we went to the grocery store and bought steaks. This was very frustrating as we had to walk to one of the public grills. That is not what we expected for the price. HOWEVER, the manager decided to give us the night's stay for FREE because of this inconvenience. I was VERY impressed with their hospitality and customer service.

I had no idea what to expect on my first trip to Estes Park but I fell in love with Castle Mtn Lodge. The setting is idyllic - the property backs up to a mountain and has a river running through the front. We saw tons of chipmunks, rabbits, a flock of turkeys and an elk (twice!) on the property! We walked along the river and sat on the riverbed - a perfect place to relax! We even hiked up the mountain behind the lodge! The locations is perfect as well - halfway between downtown Estes Park and the RMNP entrance. We stayed in a standard hotel room which was basic but comfortable and then upgraded to the Great Room for four nights. The Great Room was wonderful - we enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace! It was great having a full kitchen as well! The staff were wonderful and more than helpful. I'll be coming back here for many years to come!

This hotel has a wonderful location right outside the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms are clean, spacious and well stocked, and some rooms have small kitchenettes. However, the rooms are in desperate need of updating. The beds, bedspreads and furnishings are old and outdated and really should be updated to a more rustic mountain motif. Also, the rooms have no air conditioning. It was very cool the first part of October when we stayed there so we didn't need it, but that could be an issue in the summer months. The outside surroundings were well maintained and very nice.

stayed in the larger accomodation with a jacuzzi on the deck what a lovely lodge. Very clean. Great base to explore the park. Wished we could have stayed longer but we were on a road trip from LA to Denver.

This is a well kept, clean, neat property with nice amentities for guests such as lots of seating/picnicking areas down at the river, a hot tub you can reserve for privacy, coffee in the room or in the office, a laundry room, etc. The managers are friendly people who make you feel welcome. It was just my husband and I and we were gone all day everyday hiking, so chose one of the cabin duplexes to stay in. It was like a hotel room disquised as a cabin, which was actually a lot nicer than it sounds. Yes, the property is on the road, but so it appears is every other cabin resort in the area because the road is built along the river. The road was pretty well out of sight because of the heavy wall of trees and bushes and not loud early morning or in the evening when we were there. It is a woodsy, outdoorsy setting with lots of birds and chipmunks around. If you're looking to experience nature, but want clean, modern conveniences for sleeping, this is a great place to stay.

Castle Mountain Lodge is as described. The staff couldn't be nicer. The place is immaculate and well-maintained although vintage as updates are as needed. Beds and linens were pretty basic. Housekeeping appears to be limited to changing the towels, cleaning bath, emptying trash, but that is ok. We were comfortable and happy with our accommodation. We stayed in one of the rooms which do not afford as much privacy as the cabins, but our accommodation was priced accordingly and we considered it a good value. Rooms were well equipped with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker with enough for a couple to enjoy. Lighting is good. Televisions are flat screened and there is extended cable and really good free wi-fi which is appreciated. Did not have a hair dryer which is pretty standard but I expect they'd have one in the office to use. The lodge is on a shuttle into Estes Park and to Rocky Mountain National Park, (we didn't use but convenient). View across to the mountains is good. You can hear the Falls River but couldn't see it from vantage of our room.

Just came home from a wonderful family reunion at Castle Mountain Lodge. There was something for everyone and we all found ourselves mesmerized by the beautiful Fall River.
Thank you!
PS Especially handy to have Nicky's restaurant right down the river when we were tired of cooking...
