The lodge is located right at the heart of Estes Park. Visitor Center is 5 mins walk, downtown estes park is 1 minute drive. All the food joints are around. There is Estes Park golf club next to the lodge. You will always find herds of elk in that area. Rooms are cosy, clean and has good heating system.
Comment: There is no microwave or coffee machine in the room. Hence, if you need hot water, you have to walk to the reception area ( Open 7.00 AM- 11.00 PM) every time. This is a bit inconvenient specially in the winter or during rain. You have to walk through open areas to reach the reception.

Room Tip: Try to book the mountain facing rooms.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know how your stay was! We appreciate it! Glad to hear you were able to take full advantage of our great location, close to everything! We always recommend our guests to stay parked here and walk down town, especially during the busy summer season, when parking can be crazy. Next time you come stay with us, let us know and we will be more than happy to put an extra micorwave and coffee maker in your room before you even arrive to check in. Thanks again for the review and we look forward to seeing you all again. Take care!

September 2011, while staying in Denver, CO, I fell in love with Rocky Mountain National Park and the little town right outside of it, Estes Park. Fast-forward one year (to the very week), I planned a return trip to expose my dad to the awesomeness of this part of the country. Instead of driving an hour each way and staying in Denver, I opted to stay much closer in Estes Park, landing on the Discover Lodge. As this was a short, budget-conscious, trip, I wanted to stay as frugal as possible while not landing in a dump - I more than succeeded. Though the Discovery Lodge is a bit of an older property, the room, though small, was very clean and more than sufficient. The housekeeping service was superb, bathrooms and linens very clean and well stocked with essentials. As we were in town during the Elk bugling season, the location of Discovery Lodge was perfect since the Elk like to hang out on the golf course the motel borders. Should I return to Estes (which I definitely plan to do), Discovery Lodge will be among the first of my lodging choices.

We spent our two nights in Estes Park, CO at Discovery Lodge on 9/24 & 9/25. Extremely happy with location. Not in the downtown area, but close enough to get to the shops but far enough away from the touristy stuff. Elk on the golf course right outside our room was quite exciting. A Safeway across the street was a great way to get a good breakfast before heading out for the day. Beds very comfortable and the staff extremely helpfu and nice.

Room Tip: Rooms in balcony better view and less noise than lower rooms.

Thanks for the review! Sounds like you all took full advantage of our location close to shops and Safeway. The elk are very active that time of year. They take over the whole town! Glad you were able to see them! We look forward to seeing you again and take care!

We have been staying at the Discovery Lodge for the past 4 years. The Staff are very nice. The rooms are very clean and around the property is beautiful. Mountains and lots of Elk to view on the golf course right next to the Lodge.

We were in need of a modest priced place for two couples. The Discovery Lodge met our needs and was a nice surprise of a place to spend the night. We wanted separate sleeping quarters and found this worked out perfectly. We had a one bedroom with a queen bed + a double. A second sleeping area in the living space worked out, it too had a queen bed. The unit was clean and comfortable. The grounds are well kept and the pond is nice. The elk seem to cross the road right at this spot and we were delighted to see them do this. We were in the middle of them! Park your car as you can easily walk to anywhere in town, a very nice benefit.

Room Tip: They have a good website with photos of rooms. I suggest you look there. I believe that all rooms...

Spent one night here at the Discovery Lodge as we were going into the Rocky Mountain National Park. Check in was very easy and the staff very helpful.
Estes Park is very tourist orientated and is built up around the park. The Lodge itselt was really great, the room was huge, had a comfy sofa, two queen beds and was very comfortable. Even for the Elk that was walking through the car park in the morning. A really lovely place.
