“Cozy during extreme cold temps”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2015

When we booked this room we did not expect the weather in Estes Park to be extremely cold and snowy (-10 degrees) during our visit. We only traveled from the Colorado Springs area to get away for a few days. The very comfortable updated room maintained heat very well considering the age of the motel. The owners live on site and are very friendly. We could tell they take great pride in their investment as this is their business. When we arrived Dana was shoveling snow off of the balcony to make sure there were not any safety concerns. We felt very safe. Peter was very knowledgeable about the area. This is good for future visitors who are interested in the Estes Park area. We definitely would return if the opportunity comes again just so we can use the hot tub and firepit!

We stayed at the Maxwell Inn for a couple of nights as a mountain getaway with our college age daughter. While the room was small, it was clean and the amenities were good. We especially enjoyed the DVD library and excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants.

We (My husband, our 2 year old son and I) spent Christmas eve and day at the Maxwell Inn and we couldn't be happier. The service was excellent, the room was spotless clean, and they accommodated all our needs, requests and questions. Everything was very comfortable and clean, and although the bathroom was a bit too small, we were extremely happy during our stay. Even our son was saying he didn't want to come home!

Room Tip: Be clear about your needs, the owners are extremely good at accommodating them. There are two floors...

Green Features: Really good about showing guests how to indicate whether towels need to be washed or can be reused.

Dana and Peter are great hosts. Very friendly and attentive. Room was average, but comfortable. Heavy winds, below zero, never knew it from the room. We were very warm. Place is very quiet. Breakfast is quick, minimal, but very satisfying. And you never find Biscotti's anywhere else. Thought I died and went to heaven. Located a ten minute or less walk from downtown shopping area and restaurants. Stayed four nights, wanted to stay more. As we were leaving, Dana came out in the lot to say goodbye. It was five degrees out! I loved this place and these people.

Gary - It was great meeting you. Thank you choosing to spend your Christmas at The Maxwell Inn. It's not everyday, but we try to change up our breakfast offerings here and there, so it's great to hear that the Biscotti's were a hit. Please keep us in mind the next time you visit Estes Park. Happy New Year!

My wife and I have taken day trips to Estes Park for years, but decided to try an overnight stay this year for my birthday. We chose the Maxwell Inn based on the great reviews here, and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is in a beautiful spot with great views, it feels very quiet and secluded, but downtown Estes Park is just a minute away. You can even walk into town, rather than drive, if you're a fairly active person and have time to spare. The hotel itself is very clean, modern, and cozy, with great amenities like a roomy hot tub and a continental breakfast. The staff was friendly and attentive. We are definitely looking forward to a return visit.

My husband and I stayed here in August for two nights and loved everything about our stay. The rooms are basic, but very clean and comfortable. Our main goal was to be at the Rocky Mountain Park, and the location is perfect for that. Beautiful short walk to the town along the river. Dana and Peter were awesome hosts, they gave us a lot of recommendations on places to eat and things to do. The fire pit and hot tub are the perfect touch, and the breakfast is plentiful. One night we even sat around the fire pit with our hosts, and they shared their wine with us. It was so much fun, we felt like family. We would highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for something affordable, convenient, and with just the right amount of special details.

My family of seven stayed this weekend to watch the Catch the Glow Parade and to explore Estes Park. This motel is perfectly located for both activities. A short 10 minute walk took us into town and we had front row seats for the start of the parade. This was awesome considering people had been saving seats for hours and it was a blustery 20 degrees outside. I met both owners and they were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were beyond clean - they were spotless. Previous guests have mentioned the towels, however I must also say that they are the softest towels I have ever used. The website lists the breakfast as continental so we were prepared for this. I wish they did a hot breakfast. The office has a large collection of DVD's including many current movies, so kids can snuggle in bed and relax after a long day. We did not have any noise issues - our rooms were at the back so maybe it is quieter on that side. You won't regret staying here for your mountain retreat. Have a great time. God's blessings on you for safe travel!

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, the Catch the Glow Parade and your weekend in Estes Park! Our continental breakfast ( cereal, muffins, yogurt, coffee, orange juice and milk) is enough to get you going in the morning and we are happy to recommend some of our favorite places around town for great hot breakfasts, as well as suggestions for restaurants for all meals, if that is what you are looking for. We look forward to hosting you and your family again. Thank you for choosing to stay with us at The Maxwell Inn!
