“Fantastic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

What a perfect place for a close weekend getaway. The cabins are so clean and cozy, the one we stayed in, nbr 5 had it's own private hot tub, and was such a treat. When we arrived the heat and lights were on, it was so nice, like coming home. What a great location, you still feel private, but are only 5-7min drive from Estes Park. The kitchen had everything we needed and there is a grill to use. We were looking for an "unplugged" weekend, so never turned on the T.V. ,but there is a nice flat screen with satellite. James made a point to welcome us in person and make sure we were enjoying our stay. We can't wait to go back! Thank you James and Jeanine!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. My favorite part: when you said, "like coming home". That is exactly what we want our guest to feel like when they visit Rustic River Cabins. You described our property perfectly. Hope to see you next time you are in Estes Park.

First trip to Colorado to explore the mountain air and winter village scene at Christmas time. We needed alittle peace and quiet, alittle pampering ranger rick style and alotta nature to mellow us out after Hurricane Sandy/Flooding ect,...This trip did the trick! Had a phenomenal trip complete with mountain views galore, whiteout snowstorm, National park hikes, cozy cabin with wood fires and hot tub soaks under the stars. Superfriendly, enthusiastic and helpful owners in a place that affords explorations and fun. My shy daughter felt quickly felt comfortable on such a big trip far from home (NJ). We even made Christmas cookies (Yum) while it stormed outside, our first real winter snow! Enjoyed nearby Estes park shoppi ng and eating. We were amazed at the Elks and especially hearing their calls to each other. Great place, great price. Thanks Jeanine and James at Rustic Cabins, We'll definitely be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the larger cabin, as a family we had plenty of room to play and live.

Thank you so much for the nice review. We had so much fun while you were here. I think that was the biggest snow fall we had all winter. Loved making snow angels with your daughter. We believe that mountain air will wash away all your stresses. Hope to see you the next time you are in Estes Park.

Great place to stay and affordable! I didn’t even know they were on trip advisor until now, but we stayed here in the summer of 2012. It was close to Estes Park, but far enough away to allow us some peace and quiet. I brought my two boys who did some fishing in the river right down the front side of the cabins. Mostly, I just enjoyed the hot-tub and relaxing in the cabin. The owners were great! We stayed a whole week and anytime we needed something they were willing to help us out. The only tip I would give is get a cabin further from the road to avoid the noise of traffic. We stayed in cabin #5 and it wasn’t too bad, the river helped blocked most of the noise going by. The cabins are not luxurious, but they are quite clean and comfortable. I we will be coming back!

We stayed at Rustic River Cabins for the weekend of the Marine Corps Ball Nov 3, 2012. They were having it at the Stanley Hotel again but we wanted to bring our dogs along for the trip so staying there was out of the question. A dog training friend of ours suggested RRC and we are so happy she did. We had a great time, all of us. The dogs loved climbing the mountain trails, playing in the creek, and lounging in the cabin. We stayed in cabin 8 and LOVED the private hot tub. I have a bad back so going to hotels is always a crap shoot for me. The beds here were awesome. I got up the first morning and my back felt great! Best it had in some time actually. The wood fireplace was nice but we had trouble getting it to work for long without smoking us out. We're both from rural Arkansas so wood fireplaces aren't new for us but we just couldn't figure it out. The owners were great, the perfect mix of helpful and leave you be. This place isn't anything fancy but it is really nice, comfortable, and fun. I'm just sorry we found it when we're moving away in a few months. I hope we can make it up for one last trip before we leave.

Room Tip: Cabin 8 is perfect for a couple. It is near the road but we only heard the traffic twice and both we...

We stayed in cabin 3 with our 3 dogs and had a great time. The bathroom is small but it was not a problem for us at all. We arrived late in the evening and the cabin was heated perfectly and the hot tub was ready to go! The cabins were clean and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. The views from the grounds are amazing.

We stayed in cabin 4 which is one of the smaller cabins—good for a couple with dogs. If you are looking for a fancy over-the-top place, this isn’t the place for you. But if you are looking for a clean and comfortable pet-friendly cabin run by friendly and more than accommodating folks, this might be the place for you. When we arrived the heat wasn't on and the cabin was very cold. The owners were helpful to get it set higher but it took a couple hours to get to a comfortable temperature. We used this cabin as a weekend base “camp” to explore nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. The only drawback is the size of the bathroom—you literally have to sit sideways on the toilet because the sink is in the way and the shower is pretty small with a very low-flow shower head that couldn’t rinse the shampoo out of a woman’s long hair. But overall, we found the place to be a nice place to stay and would come back again.

Thank you so much for your review of Rustic River Cabins. We learn a lot about what we can do better with Trip Advisor. Even though we are open year round, we are taking a lot of time to fix things like the low flowing shower heads. We definitely learned our lesson with the heaters. This is our first winter in Estes Park. We now turn up the heaters the morning of each guest arrival so that the cabin is nice and cozy when you arrive. Thanks for letting us know. We look forward to your next visit to see the improvements we have made.

Myself and my Fiancee decided that Rustic River Cabins would be a great place to take my parents when they travelled over from England.

They absolutely loved it. The view from the hot tub, the comfort of the bed (cabin 6), the tranquility and the cosiness of the accommodation.

It was so peaceful and quiet, and the stars were so beautiful to look at while relaxing in the hot tub.

We ourselves have camped in Allenspark, and stayed just down the road in other cabins, but seriously, you could not get any more rustic, yet inspirational than this. Amazing.

Cabin had mod cons such as TV, fridgefreezer etc - yet a real fireplace so you get the authenticity of the crackling firewood as you settle down on the comfortable couch - and the shower was super nice too. Plenty of towels provided - and extra comforters for the beds.
The kitchen was nicely stocked too - fig newtons - my fave - although we brought our own food too, so I didn't get the chance to tuck into them ;)

We will certainly be coming back again!!
Very pet friendly and the owners were super nice!!

5/5 for us!

Only one issue was a neighbor who pulled up at 1am and headlamps shone into the bedroom, but besides that - perfect.

Oh - almost forgot - saw the first snowfall of this season (fall 2012) and it was even more beautiful than the previous day!

Room Tip: A couple of cabins are near the road - but don't let this put you off. Buy some firewood yourse...

Jamie,
Thank you for the great review. Glad you were here for the first snow fall of the year. We were also just amazed at how beautiful it was. It was very nice meeting you and your family. It is one of our favorite parts of running Rustic River Cabins.

Please come for a visit when ever you are in Estes Park.
