“Fantastic and Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2010

The place was so peaceful and beautiful. Wild hummingbirds up to the patio, Jacuzzi in room, big comfy bed nice little stocked kitchen, fireplace and board games along with a creek right in the back yard. woke up with elk in the yard. Absolutely great for a small weekend getaway or an even longer stay.

It was a beautiful place, very clean and friendly owners. Gave us tips on where to see wildlife and we were not disappointed. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Only tip is that if you go to Grand Lake you need to make sure you have plenty of daylight. We went out of our way to avoid having to drive back in the dark on the scenic route. The way in is the way back and although it is a beautiful drive in the daytime it would be nail biting in the dark. Other than that everything was perfect. We saw lots of Elk, we saw a moose and we saw Big Horn Sheep. The aspens were not as pretty as we have seen in Colorado in the past, but we were just a little early. Still beautiful area.

We stayed at Bear Paw Sept 11 & 12. We stayed in number 8 and just loved it. We loved how the living & kitchen area was separate from the bedroom. The kitchen was great... we could cook our meals to cut down on the cost of eatting out. The kitchen was well equiped & the grill was great to have right outside our door.

We used the "big" tub both nights. We really enjoyed it the night of the 12th after horseback riding in the rain. If you leave the windows open in the evening & you are laying in bed you can here the river flowing by.... the only downside was it was a little close to the road so you could hear the traffic go by, but don't let that stop you from booking at Bear Paw. If we are back in Estes Park this will be our first choice to stay again.

My family stayed at Bear Paw Suites in July. We had a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite. The room was clean when we checked in. The staff was very friendly. The location is great and the river running through the property is lovely.

We found the beds to be very comfortable, the unit we stayed in was well appointed. The showers were very good.

When we stayed at the property the outdoor temperature was around 85 degrees. In the evenings and during the night the temperature drops to the low 50's.

The units are not air conditioned and because it gets cool at night you really don't need it for the first floor bedroom. However, we found that the airflow in the upstairs bedroom was not quite as good (there is only one window in the room). Although there was a fan in the room, the kids complained that it was warm. Another thing we noted in the upstairs bedroom, which may not impact most visitors is that there are two skylights in the bedroom. I believe there were blinds of some sorts on the skylights, but the morning sunshine tended to wake our little ones a bit earlier than we would have preferred.

Overall, the location of Bear Paws is awesome and we found the condo to be suitable for our needs. I would stay there again.

Just spent three nights at River Stone. Clean, neat and well managed. We looked into by other places along the Fall River and came back here for our stay. While we had families on either side of us, we never heard them. The front deck provides privacy yet the river is right in front of you. We cooked on the deck rather than spend time in the rather touristy town. Couldn't keep our eyes off the endless hummingbirds slurping at the feeders.

While the road is just behind the stream past a line of trees, the sound of the water blocked out most of the sound. Felt like we had our own piece of the Rockies.

Price seems right for above average quality and appointments. The management was great and knew the local area/hiking well also.

  • Liked — Clean, neat, well appointed
  • Disliked — no view of the Rockies directly from porch - but we knew that

We stayed here for 3 nights in March - Bear Paw #5. It is very nice, we really enjoyed the stream running through the back of the property. Management was very nice and it is a great location in regards to RMN Park. The only complaint I would have would be your room really doesn't get cleaned while there. Houskeeping will come in and make the beds, take the trash out and that is about it. I would have appreciated some cleaning in the bathrooms, vacuuming and sweeping to be done throughout our stay. Otherwise, if this won't bother you I would highly recommend this resort.

Thank you for taking time to review Bear Paw Suites in Estes Park, CO. Your comments regarding cleaning are very important to us! All units are completely cleaned at the conclusion of each clients stay, and we do provide daily "tidy" service to make beds, take out trash and replenish supplies (including clean sheets after 3 nights), which is very standard for nightly rent, fully furnished condos. If any client requests a more comprehensive daily clean, we will do so for an additional fee. Simply request such service at check in. Thank you, Ken Larson.

It was really relaxing and comfortable. The decor is outstanding with comfortable furniture, washer/dryer, full kitchen, WiFi and all the rest. Didn't know we'd get so much in the little town of Estes Park. Loved meeting the new owners who are really hands-on and attentive. Wouldn't care which unit as they are all so very special. We'll definitely go back.
