“What a GEM!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2010

Stayed at Colorado Cottages as we were traveling with our dog and prefer cottages/condos to hotels. What a find!!! VERY clean, lovely accommodation. Not a ton of unneeded frills, but GREAT location, wonderful owners that make sure you are well cared for, and lovely little cottages. Only stayed there one night, however, would have stayed longer if not just passing through.
Our cottage, the Indian Paintbrush, was perfect for two people. We had a flat screen tv, wood burning fireplace, and our own grill and eating area. The kitchenette was well appointed for short stays - stove, fridge, micro and oven. Again, the cleanliness was OUTSTANDING.
Perhaps the best part of our stay was the owners. They have a campfire nightly, and thrive on meeting their guests. They have endless knowledge on trails in the area, where to hike, bike and run your pet.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We spent two nights here last August, after camping for two nights in Rocky Mtn National Park. Found the room to be very clean, with a nicely stocked kitchen and a large comfy bed. The bathroom was clean as well. The short drive into town (5 minutes to the center of town) made getting dinner convenient.

The hot tub made for a relaxing way to wind down after a long hike!

We were given a tour of the Colorado Cottages by the owners when we arrived in Estes Park. As we entered one of the cottages, our twelve-year-old granddaughter exclaimed, “This really feels like Colorado!” She loved the rustic feel but also loved the amenities like a flat screen TV and a DVD player with movies available in the office. We grandparents appreciated a full kitchen, fireplace complete with wood, outdoor BBQ grill and picnic table, and excellent free Internet service. We also enjoyed the grassy patio behind the office complete with hot tub and adult swing for dreaming and reading. (There’s also a swing set for youngsters.) We were invited to a campfire in the evenings complete with the makings for s’mores. It was not only our granddaughter who was delighted by this, as we enjoyed our conversations with other visitors and with John and Carolyn, the owners. The cottages are lovingly tended with the owners doing all maintenance, cleaning and bookings. John and Carolyn are very outgoing, and this made the experience relaxed and intimate. Our granddaughter was very pleased when Carolyn called her by name each time she saw her. We truly felt at home here. It was a wonderful contrast to the usual anonymous motel experience.

We were very pleased with the service provided by our hosts. They were very laid back and friendly. The cabin was small, (we stayed in the Timberline) but clean. We particularly enjoyed the camp fires that were provided each night where we could chat with other guests and the hosts. The cottages are very close to the park entrance, yet quiet because it's located at the edge of town (Estes Park). We loved Colorado and would recommend Colorado Cottages for anyone who is on a budget. This place is great!!

The cottages and the owners were so wonderful. We had a great stay. The elk came right up to the door and the park entrance is right down the road. Couldn't ask for more. It was also so relaxing to sit out around the fire pit at night with a glass of wine and just visiting with the owners. It was the best getaway vacation we had had in a long time. A wonderful couples get away. It is a 10+ on our scale of great!

We've stayed in Estes Park many times at many different places, and we found Colorado Cottages to be one of the most friendly, cleanest, and enjoyable places to stay! The owners really care about their guests and the quality of their property. There's a great hot tub to soak in after a long day of hiking and nightly camp fires to sit around and visit with fellow guests. Our cabin was a cute little place built in 1914 with a fireplace and modern improvements like a kitchenette and bathroom. There was a nice sitting area outside with a charcoal grill. Elk walked alongside the property each evening. The cottages are quiet and outside the heavy traffic area in the town proper, but very close to restaurants and stores. An entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is just a few minute away. Some of the cabins allow dogs which was great for us. Our pooch enjoyed laying on the lawn watching the ground squirrels darting by. The cabins are close together, but it's such a friendly place we didn't find that to be a problem. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in Estes Park, we highly recommend Colorado Cottages.

We attend the Scottish Highland festival each Sept. and have stayed in many lodgings in Estes Park throughout the years. We usually stay on motel row across the lake from the grounds but last year we strayed further away and stayed here. The cottages are clean, comfortable and not your boring chain experience. Each cottage has an individual personality and charming name. I recommend "Mountain Meadow" for families.Perfect for foot weary children and frazzled adults to spread out in front of the fire after a long day at the festival or to bbq on your own private deck out back as moose wander nearby. Their website has the pictures of the cottages so you can choose before hand. It is also a straight shot to the evening concerts at the YMCA which is a plus. Bring your s'more's fixings and roast them around the fire in the evening. With kilts ablazin', we'll be back again this year and the year after!!
