The Bighorn Mountain Lodge is a hotel I would not recommend for the following reasons:

1. Not very clean
2. Fitted white sheet had holes, the top white sheet had dark grease like spots on it
3. The shower curtain had mildew
4. The power surges and so the lights flicker
5. The water heater for the shower is shared with another (or others) room and so you can get blasted by hot water
6. Hard to find a working outlet to charge laptops, phones, cameras
7. Room had a not so pleasant odor
8. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable, just a three inch foam pad sitting on the box springs

I found this motels web site on the local Estes Park Chamber of Commerce Website. Their web site was impressive with a lot of nice photos. I called them up and they seemed nice enough so booked a room.

We got to the motel and checked in easily. Sure enough the folks that run it seem nice. The motel itself however was a lot different then the pictures. This place was built in the 1950's. They obviously have put a lot of time into repainting and cleaning it, but it's still a 1950's motel. Some of the more noteworthy things were a green heated pool(I think they're supposed to be blue?), a pink bathroom sink that didn't drain properly, no air conditioning, but they did have windows that opened and to be fair the mountain air cools down well even in summer. Old wood stairways in back from your room to the parking lot with weeds growing around their bases.

Oh the place does have free internet service. Also the rates were reasonable relative to other motels in the area, but I'd pony up more money next time to get a better place.

I'd stay away from this place unless the town is booked full or perhaps you can't afford better!

Do not stay here unless there is nothing else available with in 50 miles. For the 21st century it is had to believe that this kind of accommodation is still on the market. The bathroom is smaller than on cruise ships of the 1970s. The shower is so small an average person does not have room to raise a foot to wash it. The hand lavatory is so low I (5' 9") had to stoop to use it. There is not room to close the bathroom door while sitting the toilet. The continental breakfast consisted of a prepacakage pastry and cup of coffee. After prepaying reservation impossible to get a refund after cheking in.
