“Great Views, Good Location”

Bighorn Mountain Lodge

Jan 19, 2008

Have stayed here twice. First time our family had a reunion here. Second time on our own. American owners live on site and are very responsive to any needs or questions. Tho the motel is not new we found it to be clean, quiet, and convenient. Many upgrades and room improvements were noted upon our second visit. We found this motel to be a refreshing departure from the predictable chains. Great views and location. Have seen elk in the parking area.

I have NEVER written a review on a hotel room because I believe that you get what you pay for. But after being charged $117 for what would barely be considered a budget room, I felt compelled to inform fellow travelers. I travel quite extensively both domestically and internationally for work, so I have a firm grasp of what is to be expected at $100 for lodging. I'll let the pictures I've posted speak for themselves, but take special notice of the thinness of the foam mattress over a box spring if you have a bad back.

“THE WORST motel experience we have ever had!!”

What a terrible disappointment for our daughter and her new husband, and all of our 70+ guests for their July 21, 2007 wedding. We chose this place for our daughter's wedding and the internet is very very deceiving. It has not been updated, EVER. The reception hall and the deck where the wedding was held, was nice and we had a beautiful wedding, however our accomodations were appalling!! The owners are extremely rude. The electric outlets were overloaded and loose against the wall, the rooms were dirty, there are no sprinkler systems in place, the phones in the rooms didn't work, our toilet was backed up almost the entire time of our stay, my mother in law stayed in the upper part of the hotel, and the stairs and the railing were rickety and unsafe, my aunt had to scrub the bathroom floor and the bathtub before she could let her grandchildren enter, the showers are so small that you can barely turn around in it. The list goes on and on. How these people have managed to stay in business is a big mystery to me! They do not meet any codes that we could see. We spent over $3500 for the cost of my daughter's wedding and for the cost of 4 rooms for 3 days. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We checked into the hotel where he proceeded to upgrade us to a room with a frige and microwave, Great I thought. First off, the pool is green, second we were on the second floor and had to climb old rickety stairs. We opened the door to find the door hard to open because of the indoor outdoor carpeting and the smell about knocked me over. There was a tv with about 4 channels on it, the bathroom was small. It was awful, the website is nothing compared to seeing it in person. I wouldn't stay here if it was the last place in town.

The Bighorn Mountain Lodge is a hotel I would not recommend for the following reasons:

1. Not very clean
2. Fitted white sheet had holes, the top white sheet had dark grease like spots on it
3. The shower curtain had mildew
4. The power surges and so the lights flicker
5. The water heater for the shower is shared with another (or others) room and so you can get blasted by hot water
6. Hard to find a working outlet to charge laptops, phones, cameras
7. Room had a not so pleasant odor
8. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable, just a three inch foam pad sitting on the box springs
