“best place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

we stay here almost every time we come to estes park. The place is AWESOME. Ken and Carrie who own the place are THE BEST!!!!! they go over and beyond to make sure you stay is the best. Located on the Fall River--walk right outside your room and you have the river. Listening to the river at night is so peaceful. its so peaceful and beautiful. The grass is always sooo green. they are close to town. the rooms are the best. I just love it there. As soon as the except pets--my husband and I will be there all the time. (We just got a dog about a year ago)

Deer Crest is a wonderful place to go to "wind down" and enjoy life and the beautiful scenery around you! The staff is friendly and helpful in finding just the right places to go and the right restaurants to enjoy a night out with great food! Estes Park is made up of some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I never met a "stranger" while visiting there! The rooms at Deer Crest are cozy and a fireplace to warm you if that is your desire. Very clean and a small kitchen with all the things you might need to stay in and enjoy a meal or snack. Had every thing I needed within reach. The River flowing behind the resort held a view of the native wildlife. I have only been there once, so far, but intend on going back as often as I can. The week I was there last year, I had warm sunshine then got to experience SNOW too! It was like a "Fairy Land" of Beauty. Something for everyone.

After staying at several Estes Park resorts we found Deer Crest and return every year. We love everything about it! Located on the Fall River, there are grills, Adirondack chairs and park benches in the yard along with tables and chairs on the second floor balcony. We love to sit and watch the elk drinking in the river while we have a glass of wine and snacks on the balcony. There's also a pool. It's close to downtown and yet quiet -- just the sounds of the river to lull you to sleep. It's easily accessible -- no steps to either 1st or 2nd levels -- and wonderfully comfortable. Very clean and rooms made up according to individual time preferences. BEST of ALL is the staff! They are warm and welcoming and willing to do anything to make your stay a wonderful one. They know all the best spots for eating, shopping, hiking etc. and will take the time to make sure you have accurate directions. You really couldn't ask for a nicer vacation experience. We consider it our second home and start anticipating our return as we pull out of the parking lot and head for Wisconsin!

Room Tip: We love the second floor because of the balcony but the first floor has a nice patio outside each ro...

Deer Crest Resort is located on Fall River, just west of town and very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. It is located in a beautiful setting and very peaceful. My mini suite (312) has every thing I need. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I have stayed at Deer Crest yearly since about 2000, and at least twice a year for the past 9 years. I absolutely recommend the resort.

Deer Crest Resort is in a lovely location on the banks of a rushing trout stream. The building is, in reality, a 1050s motel. Having a croquet set available for guests does not make this place a resort. The rooms are small with a basin in the vestibule because the bathrooms are minuscule. Our room was also none too clean. There is no restaurant, no complimentary breakfast and precious few amenities.

Room Tip: The two rooms at the end of the building overlook a small waterfall and have private balconies. The...

Enjoy the stream located all along the back. Older buildings (like all of them in Estes Park) but very well maintained and very clean. We came back from the park at dusk and there was elk walking down the sidewalk. Two cows and a huge bull just walked just 30 foot away. We stayed in 207 on the second floor with it's own balcony. The owners were super nice. They even had water bottles for the low price of 2/1.00.

Room Tip: Get 207 for a private Balcony

My husband and I just spent three nights at the Deer Crest Resort, and loved everything about it. The setting on the river is peaceful and gorgeous. We had a river view room with a private balcony, and we almost spent as much time on the balcony as in the room. The balcony had a hummingbird feeder, and the hummingbirds came and went non stop while we sat a few feet away. It was the best natural, unobtrusive setting in nature I have ever seen in a hotel.

If you are visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, as we were, the location is ideal.

The sound of the river makes for great sleeping. Staying at the Deer Crest truly is a resort experience, but at a fraction of resort prices. The staff gets two thumbs up for friendliness and helpfulness. The rooms were spotless and well cared for. I highly recommend the Deer Crest.

Room Tip: Get a river view room with a private balcony.
