“Cheesy and overpriced !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

Expectations were high and very disappointed. Portions were a bit too big and starchy and short on Italian. And a bit pricey, probably will not return for a second chance .... Just average at best.

“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

My wife says this was one of the worst meals of her life. She ordered the halibut ($23.00), which was as dry and tough as anything she had ever eaten, accompanied by bland polenta, and green beans that were worse than any frozen supermarket vegetables she had ever bought. Our server clearly was not very knowledgable either, being totally clueless about what brands of vodka were available.
This is all very sad, as Mama Rose's has everything going for it - an attractive setting, decent ambience, and minimal noise (although there were very few diners when we were there).
In reading a multitude of reviews, it seems that diners are polarized in their opinions of this establishment - they either love it or hate it. We are clearly joining those who will not return.

“Just What You'd Expect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I've visited Mama Rose's multiple times, but hadn't been back in almost fifteen years. I was glad to see pretty much nothing had changed: good food for reasonable prices and friendly staff. Anyone expecting fancy Italian food in Estes Park may have high expectations; this is basic, family-friendly fare. They do have a pretty extensive beer and wine list, as well as scotch, and the food was filling and tasty.

“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Mama Rose's was excellent. Our server was great, very attentive and nice. The food was delicious, the meatballs were excellent. All the food was homemade and everyone at our table really enjoyed there meal. We got to sit by the window and see elk bathing in the nearby river. The atmosphere was very upscale and nice, the prices were very reasonable. I will definitly eat here again.

“Overrated and disappointing. .”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Inspired by a fodors guide book, we dined at mama roses expecting tasty, but not extraordinary Italian food, we were incredibly disappointed.
The pasta was overcooked, the garlic bread tasted only of cheese, the sauce tasted like it was from a jar, and the lasagna was a large mound of cheese and nothing else.
Waiter was friendly and service was excellent.
Again, a huge disappointment and one can only assume that the very positive reviews this place geta is a function of how few decent restaurants are in Estes Park.
