Me and my husband love going to Estes Park and this time we decided to spend the night and try to find a cozy, romantic hotel with a nice view. When we found the website of the Appenzell Inn we just knew that we found what we were looking for to celebrate our 11th Wedding Anniversary. If you want a specific view or room category,I would suggest to call first before you make a reservation and ask which rooms are still available, they will explain each room category very well so you know for sure if this is what you are looking for. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a smile and we felt very welcomed. Our room (38) was amazing, from a heart shaped Jacuzzi tub to the best views of the mountains, a cozy fireplace right below the TV. And from the Jacuzzi, we could even see a part of the amazing view, the fire place and the TV!! Room is super spacious, a small kitchenette, with a fridge and microwave, a breakfast nook, and a separate bathroom with shower. Bed super comfy. We noticed that the Appenzell restaurant on the grounds was open, so we took a peak and talked to the staff that was preparing everything for a nice romantic valentines evening dinner. Massimo the manager explained to us with great details, how tonight was the soft opening, and to be honest on how we liked the food. The menu looked great, from home made soups, to different cheese plates, steak with homemade Belgium fries, a cod cake, desserts, just the right combination, prices super reasonable, great choices of a few wines and beers. The Italian vegetable soup is amazing!! and I saw the grilled sandwiches pass by and they looked delicious also. If you like to try European Raclette, this is the only place in Estes Park that has this on the menu as far as I know. We had the best service ever, Sean did a great job making sure we needed anything, Massimo came to check on us also to make sure if we had questions, and even advised me what I should drink with my cheese plate, he was right, the German beer tasted great with it. Massimo used to work at Cheese Imports in Longmont and knows a lot about cheeses, one of the cooks in the kitchen used to work for the restaurant at the Stanley Hotel, so as you can imagine, this little cozy romantic restaurant at the Appenzell is going to be in no time one of the best restaurants in town if you ask me. It has a huge outside deck, which will be so nice in the summer time also. So no need to eat out anywhere else in town when you spend time at the Appenzel, at the moment they are open Wednesday till Sunday from around 12pm till 9pm, the menus are also in your room. And we just love the fact that we could walk back to our room, after a few drinks! We had a super romantic evening, and we wish Massimo, Sean and the rest of the staff all the best, we are rooting for you and can't wait to see you soon again, and try some other things on the menu, because it was hard to choose..it all looked so yummy! During check out we met the owners, Tom and Kate, super nice people, who really take pride into there hotel that they just purchased and are doing anything to make it even better, they explained how they will move the reception area to another part of the hotel, so that they can be more one on one with the clients, where the little breakfast area is, is where they will move the reception too also, the furniture in the breakfast area will be updated, by the way, the continental free breakfast was just perfect, coffee tasted great, a few muffins, pastries, cereal, fruit, simple, but good. Thank you Enrique for getting change for us, so that we could leave a tip for the cleaning lady, We only have one regret..we should have stayed longer!! Thank you so much to all the staff members, we will be back soon!
