I had high hopes for the Appenzell Inn and now have mixed thoughts about it. When we arrived, hungry and tired, all we wanted to do was check in, take our bags to our room, then go to the restaurant on site to have dinner. Oops - no more restaurant until new management opens a new one. Connect to another room? Oops - the system doesn't work but the new management will fix it sometime in the future. Irritations like that abounded. Our room was adequate but very dark, even in the sunshine-filled days. Lighting in the bathroom was dim also. On the plus side, our bed was very comfortable topped with a fluffy white comforter. Back to problems: no place to put a suitcase if you wanted to use it frequently, let alone space for two suitcases, very small "cozy" room, small closet for hanging up clothing. I won't go on but I would say that it is a good place to stay if you don't have a lot of baggage and if you want to stay in an average hotel. By the way, the staff is very nice and friendly.
