“Perfect setting for Mountain Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2010

This was our second time staying at the Swift Current Lodge and hopefully there will be many more in our future. You can't beat the location with the beautiful river and serene mountain setting. We have enjoyed our hikes from the lodge to the park or just setting on a bench or rock by the river. There are a number of excellent places to eat close to the lodge or in Estes. The Dunraven Inn right there in the lodge parking lot is a favorite!

The only improvement I would suggest is to update the beds. Our backs were very stiff each morning from the outdated and "hard" mattress.

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are sorry our beds were uncomfortable for you. Our beds are only 3 years old and we purchased an upgraded quality with medium firmness hoping that would accommodate most guests the best.

We stayed for three nights - our room (203) was immaculate and everything was exactly as described. Evening hot tub with a million dollar view was amazing. The only negative of the entire trip was that we (briefly) lost our keys to the unit and we were not able to contact anyone to get into our room - fortunately we were able to re-trace our steps and find them before we got locked out for the evening. Can't blame anyone but ourselves for losing our keys, but do be aware that this is not an establishment that has 24-7 service if you need something. Otherwise, a very pleasant place at a reasonable price.

We had a lovely stay at Swiftcurrent Lodge, Estes Park, CO. It was welcoming, clean and well-kept - inside and out. The location was perfect for us to enjoy RMNP and the surrounds and we felt comfortable in our little cottage and we'll definitely stay here again on our next trip to Estes Park. I hope it always stays the same.

Swiftcurrent was absolutely phenomenal! Us gals went for a weeks vacation and stayed in one of the larger lodges with a full kitchen. We only ate one meal out because we wanted to be at our cabin so badly. It was absolutely relaxing - the sound of the river to fall asleep to at night. Who could ask for more? Our view was of the river rushing by and Rocky Mountain National Park beyond it. We went on a walk every morning and every evening right from our cabin because the park is literally right there. The hot tub at night was so relaxing, and Gary & Coni couldn't have been more accomodating. They answered all our questions, provided us with the things we needed or asked for, and even made reservations for us at the restaurant next door. Swiftcurrent really made an impression and I plan to stay there on all my return trips (which will be many!)

This was my 3rd trip to Swiftcurrent Lodge. It will also be in my plans when I return to Rocky next year. There is no place else that I would stay for that week. The location is great with easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park by car. And if you are just a wanderer looking for easy walks in the meadows of the park you will find them within yards of the lodge. The music of the Big Thompson is a soothing treat. The view of the river is superb from anywhere on the propery, but the view as the river comes straight at you (and then turns the corner) is awesome. Coni and Gary are terrific lodge owners. Their aim is to make your stay most enjoyable. My friends are always envious when I return home with my stories of just how beautiful the setting is. And of course, the photography that returns home with me is outstanding. There is no other place that I would rather stay. I cannot end this review without including the "lodge dog" Darby, who is as cute as she can be!

If you want a location that captures the essence of the Rockies, this is the place for you. We had a room with a kitchen and were able to fix our own dinner, but we also went out to eat at a great restraunt that is right by the Swiftcurrent, just a short 50 foot walk away. The Big Thompson River is right in the back of the Swiftcurrent with the sound of the river heard all night. There are many places to sit along the river and each unit has its own picnic table and grill if you wish to use it. We did not use the hot tub but everyone else seemed to enjoy it along with the fire pit. If you want to walk in the RMNP, just follow their path a short distance and it is right at the back of their property filled with wonderful cliff roses and a shotr walk to the visitors center. I would most certainy stay there again. I do believe that the number 5 room has a wonderful porch overlooking the river. Horse rides are just a quick moment away as well as the entrance to the park. You don,t even have to go into the town.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. We just wanted to clarify so that no one is mislead - all KITCHEN units have a table w/gas BBQ outside. Our 4 standard lodge units (200 series) only have a microwave, small refrigerator and a coffee maker - no other cooking facilities. Also, it is Lodge unit #6 that has the deck overlooking the river. Thank you for educating us on the Cliff Roses!

When returning to Estes Park, I would definitely stay at Swiftcurrent Lodge. The owners are so helpful and the setting is amazing. Having the national park right in your backyard is a huge asset. The cabin was immaculate upon our arrival and our every need was taken care of. I did a lot of research before choosing Swiftcurrent and checked out other places once we got to Estes. I definitely made the right decision to stay at Swiftcurrent!
