“Great location and large rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

This is a great location and for families would be perfect! It is right on the beach at the marina and near a playground. The rooms are large and have recently been remodeled. The vanity and sink are in the room which is convenient. I think it is a little overpriced but would definitely stay there again.

The front desk agent was a one man show, but it clearly taking a toll on him. Slow service and explanation is they will get to it. Another guest ask for the lobby coffee to be changed twice in 20 minutes. No effort was made. When we checked in we felt like we were inconveniencing the front desk agent. The room was standard, but if we go back to this area again we will rent a cabin to get a more nature and welcoming location.

After much research, we chose this hotel for its unobstructed view of both the mountains AND Lake Estes for the 4th of July. We reserved a lake view room with a balcony. Beautiful!! Our room was located on the 3rd floor which most would consider the 2nd floor. The 1st floor was the basement with the pool and fitness center. Upon touring the small city, we looked for any hotels which we would have preferred to stay at now that we were there and the answer was none. The Stanley was beautiful but has no AC, not that we used ours since we were gone during the day and at night the cool mountain air coming through the patio door was plenty for us. Slept like a rock!! The beds were comfy and the sheets were clean. I could smell a faint scent of bleach after cleaning so that was nice to know. We left many valuables out on the dresser and desk with no problems at all although there is a room safe with a key should you wish to secure your valuables. Outside in the grass next to the parking lot we were treated to a young elk lazing and enjoying the tall grass. He even seemed to enjoy the group of people which gathered to observe him. The front desk was always courteous and helpful although they assured me that the 4th of July would not be a problem for parking and... the hotel is located on the lake with a public trail running down it and next to the marina. It was a perfect spot for the public to set up camp for the fireworks just outside their fence on the lake. The hotel sold parking for $10 and guests averaged paying upwards of $300 for that night. Unfortunately the hotel did not segregate the public from the prime parking spots in the lot so after leaving the hotel for a bit during the day, we returned in the rain, only to find we had to park on the far side of the lot. VERY disappointed at the lack of planning on behalf of their highest paying customers!!! Other than that night, we had no parking issues so my rating did not reflect that unfortunate lack of regard. As for price, this hotel does not offer many extras BUT in comparison to the other options, I feel their price is at the high end of 'right on'. If you want cheaper, you will sacrifice the complete view and a location just far enough away from the hustle of tourists but close enough to get to. The town's shuttle stops at this resort so it isn't totally necessary to always drive yourself. Overall and now having experienced Estes Park, this would still be the hotel we stayed at should we return.

Room Tip: Request the 2nd or 3rd floor as the 1st is the basement

Nestled right on Estes Lake, this hotel has a setting that is hard to beat. The restaurant has expansive windows for enjoying the excellent lake view. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Clean and neat. We did have some discomfort with the ac in our room, however, as it blew only directly on us in bed, so we barricaded the ac vent with the couch cushions to direct the air differently. The shower was great, though the tub didn't drain fast enough....meant to report it but forgot. We only stayed one night, but found it to be a comfortable, lovely hotel. Oh, the hot tub was nice and hot, but the jets were wimpy.

After reading many of the prior reviews on TripAdvisor, I requested a suite on the 2nd or 3rd floor many weeks before our arrival. Upon arrival at the hotel, however, we found out we were assigned a room on the lower level. Turns out to be the basement. Really not nice. There is a walk-out "patio" with 2 chairs. But it was so dirty, small, and with no view, that we were unable to use it. Also, when we did go out this door, the screen was broken and locked us out. The view out the bedroom window was of the scruffy grass and the feet of people walking by.
The suite itself is set up very strange with a sink in the bedroom and one in the main room, none in the actual bathroom. Very low quality soaps and shampoos. The shampoo bottles were so small!!
While the cleaning staff was pleasant enough, they seemed incompetent for all 3 days we were there. Came back to the room after being "cleaned" to find dirty glasses and coffee cups. The room was never vacuumed for all 3 days, etc, etc...
The blankets in the closet for the pull-out couch/bed were disgusting - they were dirty and looked like they had been infested with bugs or something.
We used the pool and hot tub one time. Found the "safety" bar at the hot tub to be loose from the floor, very poor management for someone who actually relies on these safety features.
The manager did refund a small portion of our room fee, but still the rate was way too high for our stay. Perhaps the upper rooms with actual balconies and views would be nicer, though the other issues would still be there.
We never used the restaurant, so cannot comment on this.
Sorry, we will not be returning to this "resort". The area however is beautiful which made up for some of our room issues.

This hotel is far from a resort! The $250+ a night cost for a room is definitely NOT worth it. I would rate this hotel equal to a $119 a night place. When we arrived we did not have any soap in our room, the patio and patio chairs were covered in bird poop and we had to ask daily for basic stuff like wash clothes and toilet paper. The beds were uncomfortable and already breaking down. I would not stay here again.
