“Clean, comfortable and convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2011

I was really pleased with our stay at the Best Western Plus Silver Saddle. We had a king room and found it to be very clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious enough for us to move around and relax after a long day of doing the outdoor stuff. The bathroom was clean and looked updated. The water pressure in the shower was excellent and the soap and shampoo provided by the motel were nice. Having the mini-fridge and microwave were a great plus and the hot breakfast provided was good. There is a city shuttle that picks up right in front of the motel, but it's really close enough to town that you can walk it - it was just over 1 mile or so away from the center of town.

Immaculate property; great breakfast; very good location to National Park entrance and downtown Estes Park; ONLY drawback was the 10am checkout time

i wish i would have looked at the reviews prior to staying here. we had spent the night in two other best western in colorado and wyoming and was great. but oh did we get a rude awaking when we tried for a third time at a best western in estes park. we got to the hotel about noon and my aunt and daughter went in to see if there was rooms available for 4 adults and a child and the lady at the front desk stated yes we have a 2 queen and she would throw in the rollaway bed for the child fro $149.00 plus tax. my aunt and daughter came back to the car to tell me so i could go in and pay cash for the room at this point this man cory blackman which is suppost to me a manager far from it lol took my information and my money and my debit card ended up being $164.00 cory blackman also gave us a pre registration receipt and said the room was not ready after i had paid him but to call back in a little while to see if the room was ready. not keep in mind he told us it was not ready after i paid. anyway about 2 hours later we called and guess what the room was not ready . another hour goes by and we go to the hotel and no the room was not ready. i asked for a refund and guess what cant get a refund. so i go back to the car about that time a man came out and said we are going to get us in another room but i had to come in to get new paper work. so in doing so he said how many in your party i told him 4 with a child which they had already been told . about that time cory blackman appeared and told me he didnt knwo we had 5 in th party and there would be another charge of $25 to get a rollaway bed. i said no this was already explained to the lady when we came in. he told me he was going to charge it to my credit card now i paid cash for the room but he was going to just like that charge something to my credit card dont think so. anyway he has my $164.00 in cash already and would not check us in till we gave in another $25 or we would just loose the $164.00 we already paid. do you see a problem here i do. anyway this in not how you run a business. the owners need to really step back and take a look at the manager cory blackman and the other staff members that lie . i have been in customer service for the past 30 years and i guess cory blackman is not aware that the custom is always right. they made the mistake or the lady at the front desk did and then they didnt back it up. so me being the customer had to pay the price. of $186.00 for room with 2 queen beds. again cory blackman you and your staff are so very wrong in how you handled my situation. If any one staying at this hotel value your money at all dont stay here cause your are going to get ripped off. keep a close eye on your credit cards as well. I am a very upset customer and will never see another best western again due to this stay at the best western siver saddle in estes park., co.

Stayed here for four night while hiking in RMNP. Very clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Obviously it is not the Four Seasons, but it is an excellent value and among the nicest Best Westerns we've stayed in, and we would definitely stay there again. Only word of caution is to beware of their restaurant recommendations. They recommended Nicky's for dinner, and it was absolutely awful.

We arrived at the hotel and asked to see the room-requested with a view of the mountains and king size bed...the room we were shown had neither. We were told by the staff that there were only 2 queen bed rooms available- and if we chose to use the 2nd bed- we would be charged an additional fee! We were also informed that the price we were quoted was not for a room with a view--- when my husband spoke to the manager- he was both rude and not accommodating-- and 'he' said " I am going to refund your deposit" instead of trying to rectify the situation... we are from New York and do alot of traveling throughout the US and have never encountered a hotel staff that was so nasty and cold! We don't know how this hotel could advertise as a 'friendly-home away from home' and have an AAA endorsement ...enjoy Estes Park-but stay away from this Best Western!!

The Best Western Silver Saddle is one of those old style motels from my 50's road trip childhood where you drive right up to your motel room door and all the kids pile out of the station wagon to get into their swim suits and head to the pool. Saying that, the only old style thing about this motel is parking in front of your door. It saved a lot of wear and tear on my back, not having to lug baggage down a hallway.
I reserved a suite which reminded me of a small apartment. The bedroom had a King size bed, wide screen TV, full bath, a "coffee center", additional sink, microwave and an extra sitting room/office. That room contained a large desk and chair with internet connection (I did not try), arm chair, another wide screen TV and access to a balcony with 2 deck chairs. The balcony and the sitting room had awesome views of the mountains. A gas fireplace in the sitting room makes it extra cozy.
The decor is tasteful, nothing looks worn or tattered, the suite had good lighting, and the entire unit was immaculate. This place would be an excellent retreat for someone to get some serious work done away from the "maddening crowd." Come here and write your memoirs or get a start on that best selling novel. Or bring your paints and create a masterpiece on the balcony. It's quiet, the mountain backdrop is inspirational, the air is crisp and clean.
The only caution I have is a safety issue and concerns the motel being located on busy Highway 34. When exiting the motel, unless you are driving down the Canyon towards Loveland, most visitors will want to turn left and cross what can be busy lanes of traffic going both ways, with somewhat limited views in one direction of oncoming traffic. At the risk of sounding like your Grandmother, Be careful when turning left! You can avoid the entire scene by turning right down 34, turn right again by the putt- putt place and back into town on Highway 36 with scenic views of Lake Estes.
Or better yet, leave your car and walk into town-maybe a three mile jaunt on well maintained sidewalks. Or in the summer and Fall there is a shuttle service into town and from the Chamber of Commerce (about 2 miles down the road), into the National Park. Check at the front desk for times.
With some planning and reasonably good health at altitude, it is possible to stay at this Best Western, enjoy the town of Estes and the National Park and avoid driving all together -at least in the Summer and Fall.
I can't wait to return here-maybe in a month or so when the elk start bugling and the aspen are turning. You can't beat the Colorado High Country in Autumn!

Room Tip: Book as far in advance as possible.
