“Beautiful surroundings & Under new management”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

The lodge looks amazing now! There are nice leather chairs in the common area and the lodge rooms have been updated. The bed was quite comfortable. The rooms have TVs now, but we never used it...too much gorgeous scenery to enjoy! There's an awesome view of Pikes Peak from the property and a great hiking trail on site.
The staff was very helpful and kind. We did not eat at the restaurant. The continental breakfast was simple, thankfully we brought snacks. It's a short and scenic drive to Estes Park which is where we had lunch.
There is a livery on site, so we decided to hit the trail by horseback. There are some awesome views along this trail.

Can't beat the location and the price. Pristine wildness trials on the property, with trail
rides throughout the day. The huge lodge is the largest log structure I have seen.
We ate breakfast overlooking the lake and the Rockies. The restaurant has a large
deck overlooking the lake. Good food and friendly service made our stay more enjoyable.

Room Tip: All western views face onto longs peak.

We had been to the Lodge for their annual Halloween event --- the Haunted Forest ride. Our kids loved it, so we gave it a try this last summer and can't say enough great things! We stayed in the lodge and the room was great with beautiful mountain views. The on-site restaurant is fantastic, and the staff is warm and inviting. They're getting more horses and will be offering trail rides again in the near future.

We stayed at this lodge 13 years ago, and liked it so much that we decided to go back this summer, when we visited the area again It was much as we remembered: comfortable, beautiful, and with good attentive service. The rooms had been renovated and now have tvs, although we never turned ours on (back then there were no tvs or phones in the rooms). the big lounge has spacious and inviting leather loveseats and couches, where it is great to sit and read, or enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. too bad it was not cold enough for the fireplace to be on, which is great to sit by. if you are looking for no-frills, but a good, clean, and comfortable place - try it. continental breakfast is simple but welcome, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the grounds are very nice. they also had tai-chi onsite every morning. we stayed at the main lodge, but there are also individual cabins, and the restaurant and lounge on the grounds has good food and beer.

Room Tip: we like the lodge rooms because we don't have to walk outside for breakfast or enjoying the loun...

My family made a reservation at the Aspen Lodge restaurant. We showed up and they didn't know about the reservation. We were seated quickly, but it took a while for the waitress to appear. She turned out to be great, but the food was hit and miss. My food was excellent. I had the venison. My wife was disappointed however. She ordered the pork and waited around 10 minutes for it after the rest of the food had been served. Additionally, it was served almost raw and was sent back. It returned still undercooked. The waitress was very apologetic, but the manager never appeared. The place was not busy, and it would be expected that someone other than the waitstaff would come talk to us. They did take the pork off the ticket, but that was it. It is unfortunate, because this experience causes us not to be able to reccommend the restaurant.

Just stopped in for one night but really enjoyed the lodge. New beds and very friendly staff. Wished we had a few more days to stick around and play in the wilderness. A bit further from Boulder than I originally thought but definitely drivable.
