“Great Service, Beautiful views, Honeymoon Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2010

The Della Terra is a hidden gem in the quaint town of Estes Park. My husband and I were married in the Rocky Mountain National Park on April 30. We booked here at the recommendation of our wedding officiant, since we had neither ever been to Colorado, we were looking for advice. We will greatly impressed from the minute we began our first communications with Della Terra. Each member of their staff was wonderful in helping us plan each aspect of our trip. They were happy to answer all questions by phone and email and even helped us around town once we were there. They definitely helped to make our wedding weekend a wonderful experience. The breakfast was wonderful as well, with an added bonus of a beautiful mountain view.
The only negative we could even express was our discomfort with the mattress. It was extra extra firm, and we unfortunately did not get much sleep at all during our stay.

First, let me say I've never written a review before, but I felt the need after experiencing the disparity of accomodation at Della Terra. Also, I'd like to be clear this review is about the cabins, not the lodge. We stayed in both the lodge which had, as most reviews report, very beautiful and comfortable accomodations and one of the cabins which was quite opposite. We chose to stay in a cabin there because of how nice the lodge looked and the reviews. I was quite surprised that the cabins were more trailer park like and not nearly the standard of the lodge. They are clean, but that might be the best that can be said. The cabin which we stayed in is in need of major updating which still wouldn't change the setting. You look direct at other cabins and their hot tub and a very large RV is permanently parked nearby. You also pass by their run down motel (I think it's for the staff) to get to the cabin. While spending a week in the area I saw many other cabins and locations which would have been preferable. If you want a beautiful room in a lodge stay here. If you prefer a cabin, I would look elsewhere. I would like to add that all the staff that we encountered were very nice and helpful.

Located immediately adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park, the Della Terra Mountain Chateau is a truly unique facility surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The lodge is obviously a labor of love, designed and constructed by the families who own and manage the property. Carefully designed and placed to take advantage of the outstanding location, the building and grounds blend beautifully into their surroundings.

The main lodge is spectacular inside. Constructed of stone, brick and other natural materials, the lodge contains fourteen rooms surrounding a central atrium which contains a huge fireplace and large wall fountain. This area provides a fine setting for the afternoon wine and cheese gathering. Breakfast is individually prepared and served in the larger public room immediately adjacent to the central atrium. The food is delicious, freshly prepared and served by the friendly and enthusiastic staff.

The rooms (we stayed in "Snow Holiday") are a story in themselves. Heated brick floors, gas fireplace, large walk out balcony with a two person hot tub, full entertainment system with indoor and outdoor speakers, and a bathroom almost beyond description (deep soaking tub, four shower heads in the seperate shower area, LED lighting, beautiful tiled walls, and a large stone wall fountain). The beds are "memory foam" and seem rather hard at first. But once used to them they provide a restful sleeping experience. To say that the rooms are unique is almost an understatement.

There are a few minor downsides. The two wing chairs in the rooms are too upright to provide a comfortable place to watch TV. The brick floors transmit noise. And be aware that not all rooms have views. The lower floor is partially below grade and those rooms look out into a retaining wall with a view of the parking area. Generally, the top floor would be the most desireable for enjoying the surroundings. Lastly, the interior room ceiling lighting does not have dimmers and can be quite bright and harsh ( I discussed this with management and they are working on a cure).

We spent three nights at Della Terra, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wished we could have stayed longer. The owners and staff could not have been more cordial, friendly and helpful. The daily wine and cheese hour gave us the opportunity to meet and enjoy other guests and the tasty daily breakfast was a great send off for exploring the wonders of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The ambience inside and out was beautiful. The view was outstanding. The staff from the owners down to the young man mopping the floors was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best we have had anywhere! There was a wedding going on in the other side of the chateau but it was still very quiet in our room. The only down side are that the tile floors are cold as they didn't have the heat in them working during the summer months and the mirror in the bathroom was not well lit. Overall it was a wonderful part of our vacation

This is a beautiful small hotel. Very romantic. Plush, plush bathrooms. However, there were no comfortable chairs in the room, the bed was not comfortable (just foam), not really anywhere to unpack your bags. This would be great for a quick romantic get-away, but not for a long stay. We were here two nights and got tired of the inconvenience of the room. We did enjoy the private theater room, private hot tub and the breakfast was delicious.

We booked late and got the last room for two nights. Even though it was a "basement" room without a view (there was a spectacular mountain view through an upper window), the stay was fabulous. The beds were a bit firm for our taste, but lots of pillows, fabulous bathroom, semi-private outdoor hot tub, great ambiance & lots of room would make this the place to stay for a few nights or a week. Beautiful, secluded area, but not close to a stream or much else. Breakfast was good & the staff were very friendly.

My husband and I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and we wanted to see the Rocky Mountains (we live in NJ). We wanted to stay in nice accomodations and if breakfast could be included, that would be a plus. We found Della Terra online and luckily they had one room left which we lucked out about. Any previous "bed and breakfast" experience had been limited to Vt. where we actually stayed in someone's house (which my husband did not like) so he was reluctant to stay someplace similar in Colorado but after calling there and finding that we would have our own room with TV, bath, bed etc. AND breakfast in the dining room we were sold. The breakfasts were gourmet EVERY morning and OUT OF THIS WORLD! The staff was friendly (they invited guests for free wine and cheese and crackers and a chat on Friday night) and once they found out that the next evening was our wedding anniversary, we came back to a wonderful surprise in our room compliments of the staff. The room was very spacious (with a hot tub on the outside terrace) and the views of the Rockies all around were outstanding! It's also conveniently located near one of the entrances to Rocky Mountain National Park. All in all we would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
