My friends and I were thrilled to find a campsite at Mary's Lake Campground in Estes Park at the last minute at the beginning of the 4th of July weekend, due to a last minute cancellation. The people at the front desk were very friendly upon check-in and they had someone escort us to our tent site, which had lots of trees, a picnic table, fire pit, a level tent area, and plenty of room between sites. We had just bedded down at about 12am, when two trucks pulled into the site directly across from ours and out spilled about 12 people who left their trucks running and lights on and proceeded to make the most awful racket for the next 2 hours. Kids were yelling, there was lots of shrieking and cursing. Who let these people in at midnight? The front desk staff were apologetic the next day but still... We were a little annoyed. The campground itself is nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains and it sits right on a little lake. The restrooms were very clean and the general store is well-stocked; even an ATM. They do have a small pool that looked a little murky, but that didn't stop us from jumping in when we got up in the morning. Despite our unfortunate experience with the campers from you-know-where, I would stay at Mary's Lake Campground again. Any resort can have an off-night, and the beauty of the area and friendliness of the staff outweighed the temporary frustration of a semi-sleepless night.
