“relaxing and cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This place is fantastic, we loved our stay! It's very relaxing and cozy, quiet and serene. The private hot tub was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. We also liked being able to cook our own meals, go fishing, watch movies ..... My wife and I come here every year for our anniversary and it never disappoints. We recommend it to everyone looking for a nice stay!

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side are more private.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. Quiet, self contained, HOT TUB. We really enjoyed it but have since found other places that give as nice a place without the hot tub that are much more reasonable on pricing.

Looking at reviews here, my husband and I were very excited to have a romantic weekend away at Antlers Pointe. From the moment we got there, we hit issues. Highlights:
1) Our room wasn't ready on time (twice). 2) There was always a 15 minute wait to ask a question at the desk, since there was only one person working at a time. 3) Any request we made had to be made TWICE before it was fulfilled (like having a light bulb put into an empty socket in our room). 4) The people working at the desk, though incredibly nice, didn't know the area, so couldn't guide us well at all. 5) They admitted to us they didn't have enough staff, even when they were fully staffed. 6) The Antlers Pointe cabins are far from the reception desk, and we had to schlep our bags through parking lot after parking lot, then later saw the staff driving around on golf carts (which were never offered to the guests).

After our stay, we emailed management to tell them how disappointed we were, especially at $250/night! They quickly offered to refund half our money. A month later, the refund hadn't happened, so we had to contact them again. The manager apologized and said she'd fix it. We received our refund.

The place is scenic, and the cabin was very nice, but I don't think I would stay again unless the price was drastically lower and I was sure they had more staff.

We had a one-bedroom suite in the Antler's Pointe section of the Estes Park Condos. The suite occupies one-half of a small cabin. The setting is delightful, right on the Fall River. In fact, guests have to cross the river to get from the parking area to the cabins. In the front of the unit is a small patio with a barbeque, a couple of chairs and a hot tub (which constantly hums). A comfortable chaise would have been very welcome after a long hike; we and other guests ended up stretching out on the grass. The condo is generally quiet, with occasional traffic noise from Highway 34 (Fall River Road) audible when the bedroom windows are open.

The living room with gas fireplace and small dining area are just adequate for two people. The kitchen area is fine for a few days. The lighting is poor, making it difficult to find a place to read at night. The bedroom is spacious, with its own sitting area. But there is no closet, just an open space with a clothes rod. Moreover, there is no dresser or other space for folded clothing. We lived out of our suitcases for the entire stay. The bedroom has a mold problem, which may explain why a bathroom fan is installed in the bedroom ceiling. The sheets have holes, the towels are small, and no robes are provided. There is no ice machine on the premises, although the refrigerator/freezer comes with a couple of ice trays. There is WiFi, but we found it very slow and unreliable.

The location is very close to the Fall River entrance station to Rocky Mountain National Park. BUT we discovered that the most popular hikes are in the Bear Lake/Glacier Gorge area of the Park. That area is accessed through the Beaver Meadows entrance station, and the Estes Park Condos are NOT convenient to that entrance. A location on Highway 36, to the West of Estes Park, would be preferable for hiking in the park.

A related problem is the lack of restaurants near the condo. The Gateway Restaurant is nearby (adjacent to the Park's Fall River Visitor Center), and we highly recommend it. It offers a varied menu and an outdoor deck, all at very reasonable prices. Nicky's Steak House is also close, but we didn't try it. The remaining choices require a trip into Estes Park. We loved The Other Side; request a table downstairs, overlooking a duck pond, where we watched an elk stroll by while eating dinner.

We would have been pleased with Antler's Pointe if the price had been competitive. As it was, we paid significantly more than market and feel that we did not receive a good value. (Our visit overlapped with a film festival, and our first four selections couldn't accommodate us in the same room for our entire stay.)

We chose to stay at the Estes Park Condos when I found myself needing a reservation on very short notice. The price was a little higher than I would normally go, but not horribly expensive. Arriving late on Friday, September 18, we were helped by a wonderful lady at the front desk. She was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The room was nice and clean. The mismatched towels were odd, but they were clean. The small kitchen was nicely appointed and well maintained and there was a basket with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate). Not overly spacious, it was still comfortable.

Unfortunately, it was also a little too small for work and the signal for WiFi in our unit was a little hit or miss. Friday night I had to finish off some work before we could settle in for the weekend and found that the small table in the unit wasn't particularly convenient for a large laptop and a set of files. A coffee table would have been welcome for the role, but the cozy living room space didn't have one.

For most people, this likely won't be an issue, but for me it means I will think twice about making reservations there again.

The big selling points for me would be the hot tub and the view. The hot tub--a mostly-private, two-person tub gave us a great place to relax at the ends of our days. That by itself might be enough to recommend the place. But the views are amazing. The units are built along the Fall River (river seems to be overstating it, but in spring, I'm guessing the water is much higher) and we could sit and hear the flowing water from the living room of our unit.

Absolutely gorgeous.

It's convenient to both RMNP and the main street that runs through Estes Park--so shopping, dining, and hiking are just minutes from the units.

So the place was quite nice, it's built in the perfect place, and the quality is pretty reasonable. The only negative to me is that it still seems just a touch too expensive for the area and just a tiny bit too small for my needs. I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends as a great place to go for a romantic getaway or as a base camp for their summer vacations to Estes.
