“Nothing special!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We went to Orlando’s on the strength of positive Tripadvisor reviews, but were disappointed. I ordered a rib eye steak, with baked potato and steamed brocolli. My wife ordered filet mignon with shrimp, baked potato and brocolli. We both had dinner salads, which were served with very good home baked bread, so far, so good. However, my steak was not great, it lacked flavour, and was no better than striaght forward roast beef for taste. My wife’s choice fared a little better, but we were both bemused by the slice of pink coloured cinnamon flavour baked apple served with our meat. It was totally irrelevant, and added nothing to the meal, so why, oh why, stick it on the plate?
We’ve eaten far better steaks this trip.

Our steaks are seared only in clarified butter. It seems that we have a population that is used to spices being added to their steaks before cooking. Meat is meat. It comes to us from a hugely reputable cattle ranch. Now, I have to wonder how many hours you spent upset about that apple ring. It is something, even stated on the menu, that has been a staple on the plate since 1972, when Orlando's opened. I really don't think it was necessary to be so troubled over it....it's a garnish, that for our regulars, is just something that has always been there. We're so sorry that it bothered you so much.

“2nd time back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This is our 2nd year in Estes Co and once again we visited Orlando's steak house.
Once again we were not disappointed. We had the steak and lobster and is was to melt in your mouth to die for good. We had the pleasure of meeting chef Tandy.
This is a small but quaint restaurant and the service is excellent!
We sat outside the Bar and toasted to my son and wife who were married last year in the Rocky Mountain National park. Another perfect end to a perfect day.
Thank you Chef Tandy

“A very pleasant discover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We've been coming to Estes Park for years and didn't know about Orlando's. A little hard to find because it's upstairs from a bar, the restaraunt is classy and the food very good.

“Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Our family was in town for a family wedding. We had dinner at Orlando's the evening prior to the event. The food was good, although the scallops were very salty.Nice experience but not extremely memorable. We would return again.

“Average at Best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We have been to all steak houses in Estes but thought we'd try Orlando's as it was rated above well.
Do not waste your time. They had a limited NYE menu and couldn't master it. We ordered med-rare filet mignon steaks but they were rare and tasteless and served with bearnaise on the side. The bearnaise sauce had dill in it and was grossly over-powering, not too mention cold. The lobster was mediocre.
The prices were reasonable but you get what you pay for and we will not eat there again.
For a great steak in Estes, stick to Twin Owls Steakhouse. It'll cost you a bit more but you won't be disappointed.

I apologize for your disappointment with your experience at Orlando's. It is hard to answer your review as it is a slam on pretty much everything, and touting another steakhouse, at that. I was busing tables that night, as a manager and I do not remember anyone with such complaints. In fact, we were complimented on dinners all night long. Tandy, the chef, has been at Orlando's for 17 years and another 12 at the Dunraven Inn. The man has literally cooked thousands of steaks. He is known for his expertise with steaks and seafood.
You stated there was dill in the bernaise. There is not. That is tarragon you tasted. If you didn't like it, that's a shame, as we're known for it.
I'm not sure what the compliant meant that our menu was limited for NYE. That is our menu. That's it. What were you expecting?
When dining in a place, if you're this unhappy, please let the staff know when you're there. It is mean and unfair to hide behind you're computer and state things, true to you, that owners have no chance to fix.
