My boyfriend and I wanted a quick lunch before we left Estes Park and headed home to the Springs. Having seen some pretty average-looking cafes and burger joints in Estes (seeming to cater mostly to tourists), I wanted to wait until we got to Boulder to grab food. However, our grumbling tummies won out and I found Nepal's Cafe on Yelp. So glad I did! It was a tiny restaurant -- we go the last table on a Saturday around noon. Quite a few parties came in after us, but no one had to wait too long because of the relatively quick turnaround for the buffet lunch. Small but tasty selection for the buffer. Good saag paneer and tikka masala (my favorites anywhere). Muted spices, probably to appease what I think is the mild Colorado palate. No problem -- asked for some hot sauce, which punched up the flavor quite a bit. Warm naan bread, mellow chai, and super friendly ma-and-pop service. A surprising find in downtown Estes Park, and well worth it!
