“Perfect stay at top of Redwoods Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

A relatively brand new hotel (owner has another location just blocks away). Comfortable, clean, spacious rooms with a buffet breakfast. If you're coming down from Portland or Seattle or any points North....this is ideal for visiting Redwood National & State parks which begin just miles away. Very courteous, friendly staff.

This hotel is right by the 101 and we stayed here one night before leaving for the Redwoods, so very convenient. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was nice, and it was good value for money overall, so no complaints.

On the down side, there is no online booking, so I had to call to make a reservation. The person who answered the phone was a little rude to me, and the whole thing felt a little disorganized, since nobody bothered to tell me the rates (that information is not on the website either, by the way), and even though I specifically asked for it when I called, nobody sent me an email confirmation of my reservation. After a couple of days, I sent one asking for it and got a very short reply.

When we checked in, however, the lady at the front desk was super nice and went out of her way to get us a room facing the bay instead of the highway, even though I didn't say anything--she offered! She was friendly and helpful, and was probably the highlight of this otherwise common (but clean) hotel.

Room Tip: One side faces the bay and the other faces the highway. You'll want to be on the side facing the...

So forget the comical effort to put an electric fireplace adjacent to the bathroom sink and a jacuzzi you could walk into getting out of bed. Forget that and concentrate on the fact that there is one huge drawback to NEW. This place has no sound insulation whatsoever. The view is overrated in other reviews but the units are clean. But if you're like me, you just can't stand a hotel with inadequate sound insulation. This place means well but is just plain loud.

Booked here based on TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed. This a new facility in excellent condition. The room was large with a sofa, chair, microwave and fridge. The staff was friendly. The bed was good. It was quiet. Our room had a nice view of the bay. Breakfast was typical, but also had fresh loaf cakes and apple fritters. We were very happy with our stay and the price we paid.

Room Tip: This is a 3 story hote and of course, the higher rooms afford the best views.

Stayed one night while touring the redwoods. Very clean and simple. Nice decor. Would recommend avoiding the second floor rooms overlooking the lobby. Typical breakfast- no complaint. A god value. We would stay again without hesitation.

our stay at the Ocean View Inn was very plesant. The hotel clerk Angie was so kind and helpful. Because of the way she treated us and the cleanliness of the hotel we will be returning customers throughout the year and we will be recommending Ocan View Inn to others as well

We had planned a trip down to northern California for some time and my wife Paulie came upon this Ocean View Inn so when we reached our destination that is where we stayed. The staff was kind and we would like to send out a special thank you to Micaela for making our stay so nice. She checked us in and answered our questions about the area. Her knowledge was helpful and saved us a lot of time in where we wanted to go in the surrounding areas. We also took notice of how concerned she was about trying to do her job and also keep the breakfast area stocked for all of us and it was really appreciated. I told her I would write a review and this is for you Micaela. Thank you so much and we will definitely stay at the Inn on future visits. The Inn was used as a stopping and starting point for our trip due to it's location. We were able to hike the trails at the parks and then come back and our room had a jacuzzi which was enjoyable to relax in after all the hiking. Also there were some great restaurants in the area. The room was very comfortable and also the rate was incredible compared to the same comfort in areas we have stayed at in our native Oregon. Thanks again.
