“For history buffs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

This place does not take long to see unless you are interested in taking a tour then add a little time. It is small - basically one building for the tour. Has some nice views of the surrounding area. The park supplies information about the Mormon and Native Americans history in this area. Its not far off the main road so easy to access if you have the time.

“A surprising Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We had a ranger who was a Piute Indian lead us on a tour and he was extremely knowledgeable of the history surrounding this outpost. His view of the Mormons, US government and Piute issues was illuminating. Also, the views of the Vermillion Cliffs is another unadvertised Gem.

“Its one building”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Pipe Springs National Monument is a single, marginally historically significant building, which you need to arrive when there is a scheduled tour to actually be able to go inside. Unless you're incredible interested in Mormon desert colonization it isn't worth the stop. On the bright side, it doesn't take very long to see everything at the monument, and there is a cheap gas station very close by. A minor notation: TripAdviror lists Pipe Springs National Monument as being in Jacobs Lake, AZ, but it is in fact between Colorado City (~18 miles West) and Fredonia (~14 miles East). Jacobs Lake is 45 miles away. Pipe Springs is 89 miles from the Grand Canyon North Rim.

“Interesting history, short stop on way to Grand Canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

If you need a short break, maybe an hour or so, on the way to Grand Canyon - then this is a good place to stop. Never heard of it, but the sign on the road caught my interest so we went in. It was interesting to read about the Native American history of this area, and Mormon settlement.

“Small but interesting national monument”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

We stopped at this Monument for a break on a long journey. It was ideal as 1-2 hours would probably be enough to visit the main building (with a free guide each half hour) and to walk around the grounds. They were very friendly and helpful.
