When we arrived at The Nativo Lodge I thought we'd hear freeway noises because we were so close to it. We did not. The check-in was friendly and seamless. There is only one elevator which is directly behind you after you check-in. The back part of the elevator is all plexiglass so you look down to the dark lobby. The lobby is a unique mixture of Southwestern and high tech due to the multiple flat screen TV's over the bar showing different Albuquerque and Santa Fe local destinations. There are several fabric-draped seating areas that are fun to lounge at. Once we got to our room I noticed how small the bathroom-vanity area was. It was okay, but we had two large pieces of luggage and only one luggage holder which fit in the small, tight closet. We made do. The room was nothing special, but clean and decorated with the same Southwestern theme. There was a small balcony that looked out toward the freeway and parking lot, which was okay. The pool and jacuzzi area was indoor/outdoor with a large draping piece of fabric separating the in from the out. We didn't see anyone use the facilities, probably because it was winter. There was a small gym which was adequate. The small dining area where breakfast was served was okay. Nothing special.
I don't want this review to sound totally bland- but after reading it, it does. The lodge itself was unique, but I've stayed at nicer places for the price. The best things about the Nativo were the comfy beds and the cool lobby.
