“Uniquely Southwestern”

Nativo Lodge Albuquerque

Save Review
3 of 5 stars
Gardnerville, Nevada
Jul 18, 2008

When we arrived at The Nativo Lodge I thought we'd hear freeway noises because we were so close to it. We did not. The check-in was friendly and seamless. There is only one elevator which is directly behind you after you check-in. The back part of the elevator is all plexiglass so you look down to the dark lobby. The lobby is a unique mixture of Southwestern and high tech due to the multiple flat screen TV's over the bar showing different Albuquerque and Santa Fe local destinations. There are several fabric-draped seating areas that are fun to lounge at. Once we got to our room I noticed how small the bathroom-vanity area was. It was okay, but we had two large pieces of luggage and only one luggage holder which fit in the small, tight closet. We made do. The room was nothing special, but clean and decorated with the same Southwestern theme. There was a small balcony that looked out toward the freeway and parking lot, which was okay. The pool and jacuzzi area was indoor/outdoor with a large draping piece of fabric separating the in from the out. We didn't see anyone use the facilities, probably because it was winter. There was a small gym which was adequate. The small dining area where breakfast was served was okay. Nothing special.

I don't want this review to sound totally bland- but after reading it, it does. The lodge itself was unique, but I've stayed at nicer places for the price. The best things about the Nativo were the comfy beds and the cool lobby.

    • Liked — The comfy beds.
    • Disliked — How dark the lobby was. Room number directions weren't anywhere after exiting the elevator.

“Would try elsewhere next time”

This was a stopover during our drive from Estes Park CO to Phoenix. Place is fairly stock standard for a 3 star with our main issue being that the aircon. was somewhat intermitent during the night, meaning we didn't get a great nights sleep. Whilst everything else was clean & comfortable enough, I would try somewhere else next time given the wide range of similar standard hotels available.

The price of the internet bordered on extortion!!!

“Unique”

Nativo Lodge Albuquerque

Jun 30, 2008

I think the Nativo is a great place to stay if you're looking for something unique. In my opinion it doesn't live up to the hype, but it's not as bad as some people thought either.

My main complaint is that the room I booked 2 months prior through the parent company Sterling Hotels and even confirmed it online the day I left was not available.

I booked the "stunning and spacious executive room with a great bed" but they had none available by the time I arrived at 8pm even though I marked my reservation as "late arrival".

I was given an apology, another room and offerred a free breakfast.

The website also said Alaska Air miles given, but the desk clerk told me it's not set up yet.

I liked how the swimming pool was part outside and inside and the large casual lounge/lobby area

Overall, the room was nice, clean, comfortable and I enjoyed the decor of the entire hotel.

“The tub had hair in it, uggggg”

Nativo Lodge Albuquerque

Jun 25, 2008

I would not recommend this hotel. As soon as we arrived, we wanted to give our toddler a tub bath, but the tub had several hairs in it. As soon as they moved us from 221 to 223, this new room also had hair in the tub!!! It might have been 3 hairs in the tub, but it is enough proof to say "the cleaning person does not even clean the tub, not even a rinse" It was a very disgusting experience, a total lack of hygiene.

Of course the hotel will respond that they will try to improve, but they already lost me as a customer.

    • Disliked — Disgusting, a total lack of bathroom cleaning. The tub had hairs in it, and in 2 rooms!!

We really enjoyed our stay here, the place is CLEAN, nice, decor is really cool, the BEDS are awesome. I usually stay in The Hilton/Hyatt/hampton inns, but chose to change gears and stay here. I am glad we did, not to mention we had the most wonderful view on our balcony of the Sandias Mtns, I would definitly recommend this hotel, we did not try the resteraunt on property ,so I cant comment on their food. I found the staff polite and greeted us with a hello when we returned each evening, and even suggested places to eat off property, when i asked for ideas. The pool looked inviting half inside and half out. Small work out room also on property only cardio equipment, but that was fine. It was about 10 min, N of the Airport just off I-25. Oh there is a Starbuck at the entrance to the hotel.
