“Nativo Lodge in Albuquerque, NM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

The guest room was clean and just the right size for us and our two small dogs. The room was quiet; no noise from the neighboring rooms or the traffic on I-25.

We stayed here for 7 days while on vacation; everything was just as we expected when on vacation. We would recommend this hotel to others coming to Albuquerque for business or vacation.

As we were only going to spend one night in Albuquerque, I wanted something a little different from the usual chain hotel stay. This property was a Howard Johnson then a Wyndham in the past; the current owner owns several other properties and spent considerable effort in giving the lobby a very New Mexican southwestern feel. The glassed in elevator allows one to see the lobby's artwork from an interesting angle as you rise to your floor. There is a pool which is indoor/outdoor, hot tub and tiny exercise room, which does have elliptical and treadmill machines, which is nice for getting a quick workout in. We had a problem with the person next to us blaring his television in the early hours of the morning. I went down to the front desk and Rick was so pleasant and apologetic, rang the room repeatedly, sent up security, but to no avail. Security persisted and went back up and finally was able to get the guest to come to the door, explain the problem and resolve it. He gave us a voucher for breakfast for the inconvenience, which was very gracious and much appreciated. Julie in the restaurant was a delight at breakfast, telling us good tips of places to see in our limited time in Albuquerque. Is this a high end hotel? No, but it is the little things that define an enjoyable ,different and unique stay, and I felt the Nativo provided this and more.

We stay at the Nativo at least once a month. BJ Dunn, Michelle Martinez and all the staff are wonderful. We have never had issues with reservations. Recently, we lost an envelope at the hotel and one of the cleaning ladies turned it into the front desk. The person at the counter turned it over to Mr. Dunn who called us. Inside the envelope was cash. We feel safe at the Nativo knowing their staff is honest.

Between the car alarms at 3 am, the highway traffic all night long and the paper thin walls so you could hear the tv and talking next door, it's a wonder we got any sleep at all. Would not stay here again. Many other hotels in the area that were nicer. The pool was gross. It had an ok location but In a city like Albuquerque every thing was close. To top it all off on the day we left, we found call girl fliers on our car.

Needed to be in Albquerque for an extended stay, spent 5 nights at Nativo. We were very impressed the minute we walked into the lobby. The Native American decor was amazing and carried over into our room which was very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the swimming pool, hot tub and my favorite the sauna as well. The entire staff was very friendly and helped to make our stay one to be remembered.

We had a great stay! Our group was in town for the National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show at the Sandia. This place was a much better deal. We like it so much that this was our fourth year staying at the Nativo!

Room Tip: Stay far from the lobby when a group or event is in the hotel
