“First class in the South West”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

I stayed here for a two day training held in their Franciscan Ballroom. The hotel rooms were spacious and very comfortable, my room faced the mountains and had a wonderful view. The pool was luxurious and beautiful, the restaurant was good but did not offer much for someone not wanting the spicy food of the southwest. The conference facilities were very comfortable from seating, to heating/cooling to the audio visual. The catering was average but that could have been due to the agency paying for it.

The staff were all extreemly friendly and helpful. The location of the Hotel was good with restaurants within walking distance as well as a winery and of course a Starbucks.

I wish there were a 6 star rating because I would give it to them with a smile. Last night (August 23, 2014) we held a 40th year High School reunion here. I cannot say enough about the job the hotel did for us. We had a number of people that showed up unexpectedly, and the hotel bent over backwards to make sure we had enough food and seating for them. The staff was incredible. The food was fantastic. They paid great attention to every detail, and were on top of things all night long. Thank you Hotel Albuquerque for helping make our event so successful!

Our family had a reunion dinner/dance at the Hotel Albuquerque In July 2014. Approximately 178 attended this function in the Hotel Albuquerque ballroom. The room was beautiful, with special thanks to the staff for all their attention to detail. The most amazing part was the food. It was outstanding. The steak/shrimp scampi plate was cooked perfectly, but so was the chicken relleno (for a New Mexico taste) and salmon. Everyone raved about the food. I normally won't eat chicken at large dinners because it is usually overcooked and dry, but I had a taste of my husband's and it was delicious and moist.
Of course it was the family being together that made the night so special. But I do want to thank Hotel Albuquerque for all their work in helping to make the night such a wonderful time for all. Special thanks to Jenaya H., she was the best! :)

We stayed at this hotel to attend a convention being held there. We had a room on the fifth floor facing the patio area. The room was outfitted with a king-sized bed, desk, chair, bureau, and night stands. The décor was what I would call southwestern colonial. The bathroom fittings were clean but somewhat worn from years of cleaning, i.e. the chrome plating was worn through on some of the fixtures. That being said it was still a clean, nice hotel. The staff that I encountered during the stay was polite and helpful.

The hotel has two bars, an outdoor pool, and a restaurant. The restaurant is called Garduños and is part of a chain that has other locations in the southwest. Frankly, I have never much cared for New Mexico style Mexican food, so my lack of enthusiasm for this restaurant is somewhat prejudiced. That said, the food was really not very good even compared to other Garduños where I have eaten. However, don't despair, there are many choices of restaurants near by the hotel within walking distance.

The hotel is located within a couple of blocks of Albuquerque's Old Town which is the historic part of the city dating to 1706 and the establishment of the city by the Spanish. Now days it caters to tourists and locals with restaurants, art and antique galleries and shops. There is the traditional Spanish plaza at the heart of Old Town. Also near the hotel and Old Town are a number of museums including a children's museum. See http://www.albuquerqueoldtown.com/ for more information. There is a tour bus that leaves from the front of the hotel and provides a city tour. The tour company has a desk in the hotel lobby.

The hotel is well set up for conventions with several large salons as well as small meeting rooms. The hotel is also popular for weddings. I had an opportunity to chat with the head of the food servers late Saturday night. In addition to the convention banquet I attended that night with about 100 people, the hotel had hosted three weddings that day each with more than 100 people being catered to from the kitchen. Our food at the banquet was very good and served promptly, so I am impressed that their kitchen and serving staff could handle these four functions in the same day.

All-in-all, my experiences at Hotel Albuquerque were very positive. If you are planning a vacation trip to Albuquerque and want to try something other than the big chain hotels, this place would definitely be a good choice, particularly if you wanted to do some exploring of the Old Town area and the museums.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side would be quieter.

We had a family event at Hotel Albuquerque and many of the guests stayed at the hotel for several days before and after the event. This hotel was a complete package. Its location was perfect for the adults to shop and walk Old Town ALbuquerque. The children had close access to museums and the zoo. And traveling to other parts of the city was very easy. The highlight of our weekend was by far the dinner dance at this hotel. Eveything was detailed to make our evening so special. The 3 dinner choices all had rave comments from the 200 guests and the dance following was a blast from the time the music started. The coordinator helped with all these decisions and definitely came through with great choices. It was an evening to remember!
